Love Island: What Happens Next For Will And Jessie?

Can Will and Jessie survive the Casa Amor curse?

What's next for Jessie and Will?

It's been a tough week for fan favourites Will and Jessie after Will had a bit too much fun in Casa Amor. In what become one of the biggest plot twists of the series, Will explored a new connection with Layla and kissed her on the first night, despite seeming happily coupled up with Jessie back in the villa. Meanwhile, Jessie stayed loyal and spoke regularly about how much she misses Will and trusts that he's a 'good egg'.

Will took it upon himself to be a 'trust no one' ambassador on his Casa Amor holiday, and although he felt incredibly guilty on day two (the kiss was on the very first night), he did seem to enjoy flirting with Layla and even shared a bed with her. One minute he said he had a very hard decision to make, the next he was telling the boys he was falling for Jessie. So Layla thinking she had a chance of being brought back into the main villa was entirely justified – especially as her and Will seemed to get on well and he said she brought out his 'cheeky' side (Q: does he have any other sides?). I think Will is confused.

On the night of the recoupling, Will decided to stay loyal to Jessie and when Jessie returned alone she asked 'if he's stood by himself does that mean he's single?' and then started crying with happiness. It was a painful moment to witness as everyone knew something she didn't – the secondhand humiliation was real. Then Maya asked Will if he felt he had been loyal while they were apart and he told the truth and seemed genuinely distressed.

Jessie, on the other hand, remained entirely calm and comforted him, telling both Will and Layla not to worry and that she hopes they're okay. Her response was admirable if not slightly suspicious. Does she just want them to go back to normal so she can get to the final? Is she blinded by love? Is she one of the world's most forgiving women?

In a sneak preview of tonight's episode we see Will walk over to Jessie and her say: 'No Will, just please don't talk to me right now'. So perhaps once the dust has settled, things don't work out swimmingly for Will after all. We'll have to wait and see.

As for Will, it's hard to tell what he really thinks now. We all fell hook, line and sinker for his nice guy image and assumed he wouldn't hurt a fly. However, zooming out for just a minute, we should remember that Jessie was the only girl on the show to ever show genuine interest in Will. We all predicted he'd be the Dr Alex of the series, and she helped him turn that image around. At the very first sign of interest from another girl, his head was turned and he seemed to love it. This doesn't bode well for their chances of survival on the outside. It will be interesting to see how things unfold in tonight's episode and on movie night, and whether Jessie feels quite so understanding when she sees the real extent of what went down.
