Does This Season Of Love Island Prove That Men Can Get Away With Anything?

Liam and Millie won the big prize and were crowned the nation's winners, almost as if Casa Amor never happened.

After eight weeks, and a long hot summer, last night, the winners of Love Island{ =nofollow}were finally crowned. Millie Court and Liam Reardon went on to win the £50k, with Millie deciding to share the prize fund with Liam. As many fans have said, it would have been far more exciting if Millie decided to keep the money - as a payback for what he did in Casa Amor.

But there was no such luck. Last night's episode was like a very high-budget American prom, there was only time for fairytales.

That's even though most of the romances on the show were anything but romantic. Millie and Liam only ended up back together after Liam cheated on Millie duringCasa Amor{ =nofollow}, almost leaving Millie for bombshell Lillie. Liam said during last night's final that, if Lillie hadn't revealed all during the recoupling, he would have pulled Millie for a chat right away to tell her about his indiscretions. (But, call us cynical, from the grin on his face when Lillie said she thought she had a reciprocated connection with Liam, we're not sure whether he would have done.)

After the initial heartbreak, Millie did eventually forgive Liam, with her explaining last night that, understandably, it was difficult trying to get over him while living in the same villa. He won her back following a speech that some thought was cute, and some thought manipulative{ =nofollow}. But, regardless of anyone's thoughts on that moment, it's undeniable that what he did in Casa Amor was awful. And with the pair being voted the winners, he seems to have got away with it pretty lightly. (Even if his dad did call him out on it during the Meet The Parents episode.)

Of course, Liam and Mille aren't the only couple who faced 'obstacles' - or as everyone likes to call them in the villa, 'tests'. Chloe and Toby only got back together after Toby's head had turned on two separate occasions, moving toAbi, then Mary, then back again to Chloe (by that point, we'd all come to know what sort of behaviour to expect from Toby). And Kaz and Tyler, again, had a huge bump in the road during Casa Amor, when he brought back new girl Clarisse - despite going to the villa with his eyes fixed on Kaz originally. He caused her a lot of hurt. Again, they patched things up - they're now exclusive, and most people couldn't believe they only finished in fourth place as Kaz was a fan favourite - but Tyler also seemed to get away with his behaviour, too.

Faye and Teddy fell out after Casa Amor, largely due to Faye's outburst, which she has since apologised for. She even joked in last night's episode that her head had flown back to the UK. But with almost 25,000 Ofcom complaints about the fall out, Faye is far more likely to feel the repercussions than any of the men, like Liam and Tyler, cheating on their partners. With almost of all the couples going through 'tests' - aka less than exemplary behaviour - does the final of Love Island prove that men can get away with anything?
