The new series hasn’t even started yet and Love Island producers are already cracking on with the twists. This morning, the ITV show announced that for the first time ever viewers will be able to vote for the first male and female bombshells before they enter the villa.

The public can choose between Ellie Spencer, 25, a Business Development Executive at a law firm from Norwich and Tom Clare, 23, a semi-pro footballer from Barnsley.

Voting opened at 8am today (Thursday 12th January) and is free via the Love Island App. The bombshell with the highest number of votes will be chosen to enter the villa, with votes closing at 9pm on Friday 13th January.

Ellie describes herself as ‘fun, caring, smart and know how to have a good time. I feel like I’m the whole package; I’m flirty, forward and very confident.’ She says she'll bring the drama, fun and a bit of unpredictability.

She also says ‘overconfident guys and men that think they can get any girl when they think they are so fit and a 10/10 when in actual fact they are none of the above,’ give her the ick. ‘I like confidence but not arrogance.’

On why she's still single, she adds 'because I fall in love really quick, but I fall out of it just as quickly. I could literally fall in love with a chair and then a week later be like, "Oh wait, no, that's a chair…" I fall in love quickly because I build up a character of someone in my head and then they breathe in the wrong direction and I’m like, ‘Next!’

Tom says he's going on the show to meet someone. 'It’s good going out and having a laugh but I miss sharing stuff. Life’s too short. These opportunities don’t come around often.' He describes himself as ‘a good vibe. I’m not snakey, I don’t like that kind of stuff. If I’ve got an issue with someone I’ll speak to them.' He's also 'loyal, trustworthy, family-orientated. I don’t like to just sit in, I like to do fun dates. I’m very protective.'

On why he’s single he adds ‘since my ex-girlfriend, no-one’s really come to me and I’ve thought, ‘Wow’. Until I have that, I’m not really going to settle for less. Not in a bad way, but the next person I get with, I want to marry.’

For him, it's when someone’s stuck up that he gets the ick. 'They can be a 10/10 but if they’re stuck up… another one for me is bad oral hygiene and a random one is ‘birthday make-up’ - you know when make-up is done professionally for an event and it’s just too much, like blue eyeshadow and stuff? Girls don’t need that.'

He's a High School Musical fan and says he'd want Zac Efron to play him in a movie.

Viewers and contestants alike never know what’s around the corner and what surprises they’re about to drop. That’s the nature of the show. Buckle in because… it is what it is.
