Love Is Blind

Adored for the drama, chaos and an alarming amount of partner swapping, Netflix has finally launched a UK version of Love Is Blind - the dating experiment that asks fifteen men and women to prove if love 'really is blind'. Spoiler alert: it's not. The contestants all date each other via their respective pods, only becoming acquainted with each other's voice and conversation skills, before choosing someone to marry despite never properly meeting in real life.

After quickly inhaling all available episodes, we naturally have plenty of questions. Namely, where did they find Sam Klein? Is Freddie Powell's prenup plan a red flag? And what is the deal with the gold goblet glasses starring in every scene? As it turns out, the ubiquitous gold goblet glasses are not a product placement deal, but a signature accessory that has become synonymous with the show.

The show's series creator Chris Coelen addressed the gold cups during an interview with Variety and coyly explained, 'I don’t know. It’s something I like. When you turn on the show, you know it’s our show. It’s a very authentic, really true following of these people’s journeys, but I like the fact that we have this sort of connective tissue with that in a really light way, it’s fun.'

Opaque cups are also commonplace on reality TV shows. An age-old producer trick, they cleverly conceal exactly how much the contestants have drunk when splicing together scenes in the editing room.

As well as looking the part and avoiding an editing blunder, the gold goblet glasses are also surprisingly sturdy and shatterproof (ideal when Whispering Angel is involved) and hold ample amounts of your chosen beverage.

Luckily, we've found where to shop the Love Is Blind UK gold goblet glasses to elevate those deep and meaningful conversations at home - no pod necessary.
