We finally have a release date for Louis Theroux’s My Scientology Movie, and a new trailer. What a time to be alive. The film will be premiered on October 10th in cinemas after it’s screening at last year’s London Film Festival and international debut at Tribeca in April.

The new trailer shows us deeper into the church of Scientology from humour to awkward moments with members of the church to enactments of specific moments from within the Scientology church. When speaking about the film Louis said he approached the church over 10 years ago to see if they would allow him to make a documentary, but when they refused he had to think of another way to portray it.

Louis spoke to NME in April about the documentary making it clear that he wanted people to see ‘an explanation of why people wanted to leave Scientology. I was interested in the seduction, why they would go along with the various practices that had been alleged for years, if not decades.’

Louis will also be doing a nationwide broadcast live Q&A with writer and actor, Adam Buxton, on October 7th ahead of the films release. Keep your eyes open, Louis is coming.
