Who doesn't love a bit of pop culture nostalgia? At last night's SAG Awards, Lisa Kudrow and Miro Sorvino treated us to a sartorial throwback to their 1997 cult comedy, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. Wearing colour block power suits, the pair referenced the iconic pink and blue outfits they wore in the movie in a pivotal scene where they perform an interpretative dance to Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time.
Kudrow and Sorvino presented the SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Comedy Series, which went to the cast of Ted Lasso. To make the joke even better, the pair shuffled around Post-It Notes before announcing the winners (in the movie, Romy and Michele go to their high school reunion pretending they've made it big by inventing Post-It Notes).
'You look cute,' Sorvino told Kudrow as part of their comedy bit. The Friends star replied, 'I know, thanks. So do you, of course. Do you think that this is the cutest anyone’s ever looked at an awards show?'
Sorvino then added: 'I just realised this. We’re wearing great ensembles while at the same time presenting great ensembles.' To which Kudrow replied: 'You’re so right, and these cast ensembles are so hilarious, and you knew that ensemble had two meanings. OK, you’re a genius.'
If you're in the mood to rewatch this nineties gem - or fill in a gap in your pop culture knowledge - Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is currently available to stream on Disney+
