Yes, we haven’t even said goodbye to August yet - but Christmas is already creeping up on us.
Luckily, we’re not talking about present buying - rather the next Christmas rom-com, Last Christmas, a George Michael soundtracked film which is going to be hitting the cinemas near, you guessed it, Christmas{
The film has been written by Love Actually iconEmma Thompson, who started planning the film when George was still alive (who approved the plot, especially the theme of homelessness).
Emilia Clarke stars as an unlucky-in-life elf working in a festive-themed store, who keeps on bumping into a volunteer at a soup kitchen, played by Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding. Emma also stars as Emilia's mum.
Last Christmas will also feature an unreleased song from the late singer, who died on Christmas Day in 2016.
Sounds good on paper, right? Well, look for yourself below, as the trailer has just been released.
Mostly, the reaction has been positive. Although many people are already speculating that the love interest Golding plays is actually a ghost - which would be quite the festive plot twist.
‘I love everything about this already,’ somebody tweeted. ‘George Michael’s tunes, Emilia Clarke, @henrygolding, the cheesy Christmas romance of it all. Just take my money now, please and thank you! #lastchristmas.’
'Last Christmas is literally not a typical Christmas movie with a happy ending,' somebody else predicted. 'We’ll be bawling our eyes out while watching this.'
And another added that the film will be a mainstay for years to come, writing, ‘I can't wait to watch #LastChristmas every single year for the rest of my life.’
Well, one of our many Christmas plans is already sorted.
