Even Kristin Davis Isn’t Sure About Che’s Comedy Set In And Just Like That

She suggested the set was more likely to make you think than to make you laugh.

Kristin Davis Che Comedy

When the third episode of And Just Like That aired, fans were divided over whether the comedy set performed by Carrie’s boss (now Miranda’s love interest) Che Diaz was actually funny at all.

Supposedly being taped for Netflix, the ‘comedy concert’ covered themes of gender and sexual identity. And, perhaps foreshadowing their impending affair, Che’s set was also the landmark moment that Miranda realised she wasn’t happy in her current life with Steve (sob).

‘I just wanna say, suck my dick,’ chided Che as they ridiculed the high number of men in comedy during the performance. ‘Actually, I don’t have a dick. If I did, I would’ve had this special five years ago,’ they said as Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte grinned in the audience.

But viewers at home weren’t so convinced by Che’s material. ‘Not one joke in Che’s “Netflix” “stand-up” “special” on And Just Like That???' one Twitter user writer wrote. ‘I can’t be the only one who was mad about wasting almost half the episode on Che and her cringe unfunny “comedy special” #AndJustLikeThat',’ added another.

And it seems like Kristin Davis might agree with people at home despite laughing along for the And Just Like That cameras.

‘Is Che Diaz’s comedy funny Kristin?’ Andy Cohen questioned the actress on his chat show Watch What Happens Live. ‘Oh Andy, don’t put me on the spot,’ stalled Davis as she looked towards the ceiling. ‘You’re going to get me in trouble with Michael Patrick [King].’

But despite her fears over upsetting And Just Like That’s showrunner, Davis hinted she wasn’t really laughing out loud during Che’s comedy routine: ‘You know, I think it’s meant to be more like “hmmm” type comedy, you know, “oooh, oh!”’ she explained tacitly while miming deep thought and shock.

Arguably more motivational speaking than comedy, it’s understandable that Che’s ‘set might be considered more thought-provoking than side splitting. But their material has definitely got everybody talking and maybe that’s a vital part of comedy, too.
