If you're watching Inventing Anna, you'll have spent a lot of the first few episodes puzzling 'where have I seen them before?' Showrunner Shonda Rhimes likes to use the same actors across her many hit dramas, so if you're a Shondaland fan, chances are you'll recognise a lot of the cast. Outside the Shondaland universe, many of the stars in Inventing Anna have previously appeared in some of our favourite TV shows.
From Scandal to Succession, here are the shows you know them from....
Where You've Seen The Inventing Anna Cast Before
Julia Garner (Anna)
Before she played Anna Delvey, Garner won acclaim in Netflix thriller Ozark as the scrappy Ruth, a role that's won her two Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Garner has also had roles in Dirty John and The Americans.
Kate Burton (Nora)
Shondaland stans will have immediately recognised Nora - Delvey's former 'mentor' turned victim – is played by Kate Burton, aka politician Sally Langston in Scandal and Dr Ellis Grey in Grey's Anatomy.
Katie Lowes (Rachel)
Lowes plays real-life writer Rachel DeLoache Williams, who was friends with Delvey (the real Rachel is not pleased with how she's been portrayed in the show). Lowes is another Shondaland star, playing badass fixer Quinn in Scandal and its spin-off show Gladiator Wanted.
Anna Chlumsky (Vivian)
Chlumsky's character Vivian is based on the real life journalist Jessica Pressler, who wrote the original New York magazine story about Delvey. Chlumsky previously played Amy Brookheimer in political satire Veep but you might remember her as a child star in 90s classic My Girl.
Jeff Perry (Lou)
Vivian's colleague at Manhattan magazine (a thinly veined stand-in for the real-life New York magazine) is played by another Shondaland veteran, Jeff Perry, who starred as the beleaguered Cyrus Bean in Scandal, and Meredith's estranged dad in Grey's Anatomy.
Arian Moayed (Todd)
Moayed plays Delvey's lawyer Todd (based on her real-life attorney Todd Spodek). If he looks familiar, Moayed was also in Succession as the private equity investor Stewy Hosseini, who double crosses Kendall.
Alexis Floyd (Neff)
Neff is based on real-life hotel concierge and friend of Delvey, Neffatari Davis. Wondering where you've seen Floyd before? She starred in season three of The Bold Type as campaign manager Tia Clayton.
Ben Rappaport (Billy)
In a juicy scamming crossover, Rappaport plays Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland who we see briefly living with Delvey (all true, btw). And yep, Rappaport is another Shondaland-er: the actor previously appeared in legal drama For The People.
Chris Lowell (Noah)
Lowell plays Noah, a fictional videographer who is tasked with documenting Delvey's life as she prepares to launch her foundation. Lowell may be best known for playing Bash in wrestling romp GLOW but he also has a Shondaland link, starring in Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice.
Laverne Cox (Kacy)
Cox plays Kacy Duke, the real-life personal trainer who knew Delvey. Cox is probably best known for playing inmate and prison hairstylist Sophia Burset in Orange Is The New Black.
