Hugh Grant can proudly add 'Ooompa-Loompa' to his shiny list of film roles.

It has been revealed that the actor - whose credentials include Notting Hill and Love Actually - plays one of the orange-coloured, green-haired characters in the upcoming Wonka movie.

At Las Vegas' CinemaCon on Tuesday (25 April), a select audience discovered his cameo role as part of extended footage that screened for exhibitors.

Senior entertainment reporter Germain Lussier was present at the viewing and tweeted, 'Extended trailer for Wonka... Shows him originating all of his special chocolates against the will of an evil chocolate cartel. Ends with HUGH GRANT as an Oompa Loompa, the first one Willy meets. He sings for him. Looks very joyous and bright and fun.'

Timothée Chalamet, who plays the titular character, Willy Wonka, told those in attendance that seeing Hugh as an Oompa-Loompa was a 'trip'.

Variety also added that Hugh's character was spotted trapped in a tiny glass jar, with Wonka later hiring him to run his factory.

With searches surging for Hugh Grant's height, it has been widely reported that he is 5ft 11in (180cm).

What is Wonka about?

Wonka is a prequel to Roald Dahl's famous 1964 novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It explores the adventures of Willy Wonka before he opened the world's most famous chocolate factory.

There have been two adaptations of Roald's book, which follows young boy Charlie Bucket as he and four other children win a tour of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, led by the man himself.

The film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released in 1971, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came along in 2005.
