After months of waiting, House of Guinness has finally landed on our screens and we can't wait to dive in. The new Netflix drama, which is the brainchild of Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight, follows the story of Sir Benjamin Guinness and his four children, who are caught in a power struggle for his empire after his death in 1868.

The star-studded line up features Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn and James Norton as the Guinness children. The show blends historical accuracy with creative liberty to also paint a picture of the Guinness family, set against the backdrop of an evolving 19th century Ireland, from political upheavals to famines. One character integral to this storyline is Sultan, played by Hilda Faye.

Who is Sultan?

Sultan is a mysterious character who will appear in House of Guinness. Not much is known about the role that Sultan will play in the drama, but we know she is a 'working class Dublin woman.' Speaking about the role to The Irish Sun, actress Hilda Faye describes her as 'very powerful', and said she will tell the story 'of the famine' which was a 'huge weight' on her and Stephen Knight's shoulders.

Who plays Sultan in House Of Guinness?

Sultan is played by Hilda Fay in the House of Guinness. Hilda is an Irish actor who you might recognise from her roles in Whistleblower and The Woman In The Wall, for which she earned an IFTA nomination. She graduated from Trinity College, Dublin's Samuel Beckett Centre, and has also had starring roles in Float Like A Butterfly, Let The Wrong One In and Spilt Milk. Her career also spans the stage - in 2018, Hilda was the lead actress in Plough And The Stars directed by Sean Holmes at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith.

She told The Irish Sun: 'I’m always in stuff with issues of class. I seem to gravitate to those type of stories. You want to, as an actress, to try and be part of stuff that has purpose and meaning and can help change the world, make people think and open their minds,' adding, 'I play a lot of matriarchs as well. Maybe it’s my age. I didn’t do it when I was younger. I used to play the sexy part, not anymore.'
