If you are averse to a pint of Guinness then we're sorry to say you are firmly in the minority. As of 2023, it's Britain's favourite beer, but given its relatively new cultural cachet it's easy to forget quite how rich the stout's history is.

Founded in Ireland in the 18th century, Guinness was first created by Arthur Guinness at St James's Gate in Dublin. However, it was his son Benjamin who turned it into a global brand, and Benjamin's four children who determined its legacy. All of which is the subject of the new Netflix drama, House of Guinness, which tells the story of the family dynasty across eight episodes.

If you plan to spend your weekend binging the whole series (with a well-poured Guinness in hand) and want to know more about Adelaide Guinness then you've come to the right place.
