Have you watched The Get Down? You should watch The Get Down. It's bonkers. It's great. It's like Baz Luhrmann on drugs. Good drugs. If that's such a thing.

It's about a boy called Zeke. Zeke (Justice Smith) is super clever, a really talented writer. But he's growing up in a broken home in The Bronx in 1977. There's not much help for him. His life consists of surviving, hanging out with his friends and lusting after his friend Mylene.

The whole thing feels like an extended music video; part spoken word performance, part hard hitting drama. There's dance performances (hello disco), incredible costumes, a beautiful backdrop of the broken down Bronx... It's definitely one to watch. But, the person we're really lusting after? Herizen F. Guardiola, the girl who plays Mylene. I mean she's amazing. Want to know more about her?

Herizen Guardiola age

She's 20. Yeah. She's that talented at 20. Want a hug?

Herizen Guardiola on The Get Down

If you haven't watched it, she plays Mylene Cruz, the daughter of strict pastor Ramon Cruz (great name, not great personaility) and niece of Francisco 'Papa Fuerte' Cruz, a South Bronx mafioso-type who is kind of a big deal in the neighbourhood.

Mylene really wants to sing. She wants to be Donna Summer. She wants to wear sparkly dresses and belt out spectacular disco songs whilst dancing like a mad woman. She's really talented. And yet... her dad, old Ramon, doesn't want that life for her. In fact, he thinks disco is the 'devil's music'.

Oh, and Zeke is in love with Mylene. As are we.

What did Herizen Guardiola wear to the Met Ball?

You didn't even know she was there did you? Well she was. And she looked spectacular. Her dress is Monique Lhuillier BTW.

Is Herizen Guardiola on Snapchat?

Despite our best efforts to track one down, it doesn't look like she has a publicly shared Snapchat account, no. Which is sad, very very sad, because if her Instagram is anything to go by, it would be up there on our list of accounts to follow. Speaking of Instagram...

What is Herizen Guardiola's Instagram?

Again, it's @Herizen_Fawn. And my does she take a lot of good pictures. She also wears a lot of excellent clothes. And hangs out in very photogenic places. Basically, follow, follow hard.

Herizen Guardiola in Vogue

There's a bevvy of fun facts about Herizen in her recent Vogue interview... For instance the fact that she listened to Donna Summer Love to Love you Baby on repeat in her trailer to get her in the mood to do big dance numbers, the fact that she's a vegetarian, a yogi, a bit about her mother (she's a Jamaican Buddhist, nutrionist and yoga instructor, NBD) and her thoughts on her incredible natural hair.

Herizen Guardiola singing Be That As It May

Remember when we said the *The Get Down *feels like an extended music video? Here's a little sample of Herizen performing *Be That As It May *as her character Mylene. It's beautiful and you will want to listen to it a couple of times. Maybe more. Maybe just leave on repeat.
