One of the most admired cult films of the late 80’s is making a comeback in the form of a 10-part anthology show and is set to air in 2018. Heathers, the 1989 American black comedy written by Daniel Waters, portrays four teenage girls – three of whom are named Heather – in a clique at an Ohio high school - and it's getting a reboot for 2018. The first trailer debuted on Sunday at VMA’s…
Being part of the original Heathers clique meant oversized plaid blazers, shoulder pads and BIG hair, which we now know is where the bitchy girls hide their secrets, thanks Mean Girls. The new cast of the rebooted classic have dropped the shoulder pads and teased curls and opted for a much more millennial aesthetic featuring heeled PVC booties, chokers, fishnet tights and lots of gold knuckle rings.
If you’re not yet familiar with one of the most iconic lines of dialogue from the original film, ‘fuck me gently with a chainsaw’, add it to your lexicon immediately. There are also a number of unforgettably biting one liners that will undoubtedly make it into the new series and should be also be weaved into our vernacular whereever possible.
So, if you’re a fan of Mean Girls this is going to be your new favourite obsession. We can’t wait to see how the same black comedy storyline with be updated in style, language and tone to fit our present-day standards.
