Georgia From First Dates Tells Us Why She Didn’t Go Back Out With Alex

Is Alex the one? And just how many date offers has she had since last week?

UPDATE: Gah. So Alex wasn’t Georgia's prince after all. Here’s what she said when we asked her about why she cancelled the date.

Why did Georgia from First Dates cancel her second date with Alex?

‘I was actually unwell when I couldn’t go on the second date. But at the same time, I was apprehensive. I liked him. He was a lovely person and really nice, but I like the more bad boy, naughty, mischievous guy. I’m not a heartless person, so I would never be like, “You’re not my type” really blunt. I’m a bit unpredictable and I need someone that could handle that about me. I’d love to settle for a nice boy, but I know what I'm like. I’d just get bored.’

Would Georgia go back on First Dates?

‘I think if I went back it would be sympathy dates! The curiosity gets me, though. The kind of guys I go for aren’t the right guy, so I’d be curious to see who gets chosen for me. If they can predict it and get me the right guy, I’d consider it. Probably, actually. No doubt. I’d go back again.'

Last week’s episode of First Dates riled up the nation like no other after the lovely, lovely Georgia showed up in her glad rags, ready to meet a strapping young gentleman... who never showed.

What happened next though was what really got everyone excited. Georgia met another guy called Alex, a handsome chap with a nice shirt and a beard at the bar. The two struck up a conversation but alas, Alex was there for another date. With a nice girl called Heather. Alex and Heather sat down for dinner, Georgia remained at the bar.

But! Fate stepped in and, as luck would have it, Alex and Heather didn’t actually fancy seeing each other again so, Alex was a free agent and, this week, he’s back to suprise Georgia in the First Dates restaurant and, hopefully, whisk her of her feet.

We spoke to Georgia ahead of tonight’s episode to find out what really happened last week and see if we can figure out how things are going to go with Alex tonight...

Georgia! Did you ever find out what happened to the spineless chap who didn’t show up for you last week?

No, I didn't! I think he was on his way and then, he just didn’t turn up! He could have fallen down a hole, or got abducted.

What a knob. Was it tough when Fred told you he wasn’t coming?

It was such a day of cock-ups. I’d been travelling since 5am. So when I got there, I just joked like, ‘Oooh, he might not turn up!’ And then he didn’t! Luckily, I can laugh at myself. I just took it like, ‘You know what, I’ve got here, the staff are lovely, I’ve got a glass of wine, I’m going to make the most of being here. This guy, I don’t know him, he doesn’t know me, it’s not personal so I’m not going to take it to heart.

And then lovely Alex walked in! Did you fancy him right away?

Do you know, when I went for the audition I said that my type was tall, dark, bearded and he fitted what I described, so when he walked in I was initially like, ‘Oh maybe he did turn up?’ He was really, really nervous but by then I’d had a glass of wine, so I was quite cheery! I was just chatting away to everyone.

And what was it like watching him on his date while you were still at the bar?

I wasn’t phased. I was just happy for everyone going on their dates. Being an outsider, watching the dates occur was quite funny actually. Me and the barman were playing a fun game of predicting – like, ‘Oh, do they have chemistry, how are they getting on?’ It wasn’t all that bad. I had wine and I had chips.

Alex is coming back this week (supressed squeals), did you know it was going to be him?

I had no idea! Absolutely not a clue. When he turned up I was like, ‘Oh you again!’ Totally unexpected. Before I wasn’t sure whether to go back or not because I got stood up, and I was thinking I should probably leave it at that. But curiosity got the better of me. It was nice to have someone I’d already spoken to. It was a bit more relaxed.

Was it bonkers mad watching the show last week?

I wasn’t expecting everything to go as crazy as that like! I was just sitting with my friend watching, and then my phone went mental. It didn’t stop until 5am! I had thousands of notifications. I thought, ‘This is mad, I’ve only got stood up!’ I’ve had no luck in love in my life, but I’ve got about 60 dates after last week!

Are you going to take anyone up on them?

I haven’t even got through half of them yet. Even a guy from LA got in touch and he’d seen me on the show and tracked me down! He was like, ‘I want to take you on date, LA or London?’ I was like ‘What! This other guy couldn’t even come down to the restaurant for me and now there’s this guy!’

Watch what happens with Georgia and Alex tonight on First Dates on Channel 4 at 10pm.
