It's been 25 years since Friends, arguably the most beloved TV show of all time, appeared on our screens. And while there's no real prospect of a reboot happening any time soon, we can't help wondering what life might have had in store for our six favourite Greenwich Village residents.
Rachel
After she got off the plane, she got back on the plane. She, Ross and Emma decamped to Paris where Rachel worked her way up through the ranks at Louis Vuitton. She wasn’t going to turn down her dream job in Paris for Ross, after all.
She was eventually poached to move back to New York and run Barney’s. She now lives in the village with her daughter Emma and her second husband. She is best friends with Sarah Jessica Parker, but still makes time for a monthly lunch with Monica.
Ross
Unfortunately, Ross struggled with life in Paris. Hair gel was harder to come by, he didn’t speak the language and became obsessed with John-Pierre, Rachel’s assistant.
After an unsuccessful spell as a stay-at-home father, Ross moved back to upstate New York and bought a house at the end of Chandler and Monica’s road. He runs a popular men’s right’s blog devoted to gaining better child custody for men and is the president of The Divorced Men’s Club (motto: Divorced Men Are Not Bad Men).
He sees Emma and Ben at Christmas and New Year.
Emma Geller-Green
16.year-old Emma runs a fashion and meme account on Instagram called the Geller Yeller, which has 700,000 followers. She posts about Parisian-inspired fashion, interiors and hopes to be the voice of Gen Z.
Last year she wrote a personal essay titled: ‘I Was A Baby Beauty Queen’ for Teen Vogue which went viral. She now campaigns for better regulation around child exploitation.

Carol & Susan Willick-Bunch
Carol and Susan moved to Brooklyn. They wrote a joint book about gender-neutral parenting and campaign regularly for Planned Parenthood.
Ben Willick-Bunch
Now 23 years old, Ben changed removed the ‘Gellar’ from his surname upon turning 18, ostensibly on the basis that he’d only seen his dad a handful of times that year, but really because when he came out to his parents, Ross started sobbing and saying 'he shouldn’t have been allowed a Barbie doll.’
Phoebe Buffay- Hannigan & Mike Hannigan
In the late 00’s Phoebe became a YouTube sensation after someone filmed her playing Smelly Cat at the coffee house. She enjoyed short-lived viral fame but ultimately found the pressure of social media overwhelming.
Phoebe and Mike bought a plot of land in upstate New York with the Smelly Cat proceeds. They now live entirely off grid in a carbon-netural, vegan home that they built by hand.
They have seven children: Lisel, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta and Phoebo.
Monica Geller-Bing
Monica runs a cleaning and organisational Facebook community with several hundred thousand members. Women all over the world post pictures of their sparkling toilets with #Bing and #BingingIt.
She also sought therapy for her unresolved issues towards her mother and childhood bullying about her weight. She gained a 30lb and has never been happier.
Chandler Bing
After many years of struggling with his sexuality, Chandler took the brave step of admitting that his homophobic punchlines and stressful relationship with his father were predominantly caused by denial of his own bi-sexuality.
He quit advertising to become a motivational speaker and now spends summers doing a joint drag show with his father, Helena Handbasket.
Erika & Jack Bing
Adopted twins Jack and Erika are nearly 15 years old and spend most of their time complaining that their parents got rid of the apartment in the city, which would now be worth several million dollars.
Amy Green
Rachel’s sister Amy is a diversity and sensitivity consultant for Goop.
Jill Green
Married Barry after he and Mindy’s marriage fell apart. They live in Rhode Island.
Gunther
Still running Central Perk. Now buys Rachel’s second-hand clothes on eBay under a variety of pseudonyms.
David The Scientist Guy
Discovered that it was in fact possible to positronic distillation of subatomic particles and that you don’t need to live in Minsk to do it.
Charlie Wheeler
Won her own Nobel prize.
Janice Litman-Goralnik
Janice sells juice supplements and make up products over Facebook, hosts Tupperware parties and is the most loved/feared Spin instructor in all of update New York.
Joey
Joey moved back from LA after realising that moving a single member of the friendship group over to the other side of the world and expecting them to thrive there was unrealistic. After the MeToo movement he dedicated six weeks to finding every extra he slept with on the set of Days of Our Lives and apologising to them.
He is newly married to a successful fashion executive named Rachel Green.
