Um. Right so, ignore the whole James Bond Spectre thing today (ICYMI, there’s a new trailer and it’s everywhere all over the internet) and join us, if you will, in focussing on the OTHER important film news of the day which is that a) there’s going to be an Emoji film, and b) Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys fame is making a zombie film and it’s going to star various member of BSB and even one member of rival ’90s boyband *NSYNC.
So, let’s start with the Emoji film shall we? It’s going to be made by Sony, and so far the only names attached to it are two guys, one of whom wrote Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters, a short film that was included on the DVD extras of *Kung Fu Panda 2. *Other than that there’s not really any information about what the film will entail, but if you’re sceptical, just remember that two years ago people turned up their noses at the idea of a Lego movie and then The Lego Movie turned out to be one of the greatest modern classics of our time. EVERYTHING IS AWESOME.
Moving swiftly on before Everything Is Awesome becomes stuck in all of our heads for ever more, let’s get to the news that Nick Carter, once famous for breaking the hearts of ’90s teenagers everywhere by singing words like, ‘Quit playing games with my heart,’ and, ‘I want it that way,’ has teamed up with the studios that made 2013’s *other *great film Sharknado to make Dead 7, a ‘futuristic zombie western’ film. Not only is Nick writing *and *directing the film (good to know it’s in safe hands), he’s also bringing a couple of familiar faces in to star alongside him in the form of bandmates AJ McLean and Howie Dorough. As if making a zombie western wasn’t enough, Nick’s also seeking to put a permanent plaster over the deep wounds caused by the feud between Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC by enlisting the star power of Joey Fatone as a cast member, too.
As for what’s going to actually happen in the film, again, there’s not much info. Nick spoke to *Rolling Stone *saying, ‘My character is still being worked out right now, but I’m a good guy that’s going to help save the day.’ While Joey Fatone claims that he’s going to play ‘the drunk’ and that he’s been ‘typecast’. There’s no news on whether the other *NSYNC-ers will join Joey Fatone, but Chris Kirkpatrick fans can still hope. ‘I’m the only *NSYNC-er as of now, but you never know,’ Joey said. ‘Nick’s vision is to bring some other people in that genre that have never really done a lot of film but that were in music in the ’90s and 2000s.’ Nick agreed, ‘There’s a wish list of people that I want. I want it to be musically based. I might reach out to Jordan from the New Kids On The Block.’
Fingers crossed guys, fingers crossed.
