In a world still desperately seeking justice for Barb, it’s crazy to think that we might’ve all been looking for justice for Eleven too. According to Stranger Things’ creators the Duffer brothers, their original plan was for us to do just that.
Apparently, the show was originally envisioned as a ‘one and done’ series, ending with Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven dying in battle with the Demogorgon, leaving Hopper to make Eggos for one.

Speaking at a Q&A at California’s Chapman University, Ross Duffer reportedly said: ‘I like to pretend that it was all planned out, but it was originally pitched as a limited series. So it was like, Eleven was gonna sacrifice herself and save the world and then that was gonna be it because there was a moment where limited series were a big deal.’
Even when they considered their hypothetical season two, Eleven wasn’t part of the equation: ‘[Netflix] were like, “Well, we like this but how could it keep going?” And you’re just sort of riffing in the moment and we were like, “Well Will’s back from this other dimension and he’s not doing well,” and they were like, “Great!”’
Considering how much of a fan favourite Brown is, it’s hard to imagine a world where Eleven and her telekinetic tantrums were permanently ditched in the Upside Down. Thankfully it was temporary – this time, at least. The Duffers revealed back in August that they’re ‘thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out.'
If we’re already halfway through Eleven’s story, maybe it’s time to start preparing ourselves for how it will end. Keep #JusticeForEleven at the ready.
