A Definitive List Of Every Disney Live-Action Remake

We all love a good Disney film, so here at The Debrief, we've taken it upon ourselves to compile a definitive list of every single Disney movie that's being made into a live-action remake. Because this is what dreams are made of, people. From Mulan to The Little Mermaid, see which blockbusters will be coming your way.

1. Mulan

Yep, *Mulan *is hitting the big screens in 2018 - a whopping 20 years after the film's first release. While we're still not sure who's going to be playing Mulan, fans have suggested that actress Jamie Chung take the role, after portraying the character on ABC's Once Upon A Time.

**Release date: **November 2, 2018

2. The Little Mermaid

You may have seen the trailer for The Little Mermaid that is based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, but this remake actually has nothing to do with the original Disney film. There will be an official Disney live-action remake, but as of now, not much information has been released. However, we do know that original songwriter Alan Menken will be composing songs alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda. And we for one can't wait for this film to become a part of our world (sorry, not sorry).

**Release date: **TBA

3. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs

There's actually no news on the cast, release date or director for Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, but rest assured that there is a live-action remake in the pipelines.

Release date: TBA

4. The Lion King

The Lion King is one of the most successful Disney films to date, and has even been turned into the third-longest running Broadway musical. And now, it's finally being made into a live-action remake. And by live-action, we mean CGI, considering that there are no humans in the film, and we can't imagine that real animals will be playing ball on set. As of now, casting includes James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and Donald Glover as Simba.

Release date: July 19, 2019

5. Cruella

It makes sense for iconic Disney villain Cruella de Vil to get her own film. While the details haven't yet been released, Emma Stone is rumoured to be playing the evil character in the remake.

Release date: December 22, 2017

6. Tink

If Cruella de Vil can get her own film, then why can't Tinkerbell? Rumour has it that actress Reese Witherspoon is set to bring Tink to life.

Release date: TBA

7. Aladdin

After the success of the *Aladdin *broadway show, the new live-action remake is expected to follow a similar style, with musical hits galore. We can't bloody wait.

Release date: May 24, 2019

8. Peter Pan

After the flop of the film Pan, Disney are ready to give the original storyline another go with another live-action remake, this time with David Lowery as the director. But will it live up to childhood gem that is Hook? We just don't know.

Release date:** **TBA

9. Dumbo

Alice In Wonderland filmmaker Tim Burton has been tapped to direct the live-action remake of *Dumbo. *Said to revolve heavily around the circus, the film has already signed on actress Eva Green and actor Danny DeVito as key characters.

Release date: March 29, 2019

10. Christopher Robin

The story of Christopher Robin (the young, imaginative boy in Winnie The Pooh), will revolve around the adult version of the character, who has now transformed into a businessman. In the remake, Christopher's life is turned upside down when Pooh shows up at his door needing help. So, you can expect this new film to be a cross between *Ted *and Hook.

Release date: August 3, 2018

Can't wait until these films come out? Don't worry, you can fill your time by watching some of these already released live-action remakes:

Beauty and The Beast

Boy oh boy was *Beauty and The Beast *a good watch. And yes, we did shed a few tears at the end when the Beast was turned back into a man.

The Jungle Book

For much of The Jungle Book, actor Neel Sethi, who plays man-cub Mowgli, is the only real element onscreen - the rest of the characters around him are digital creations. But, this doesn't stop the remake from being absolutely outstanding. Plus, rumour has it that there's a sequel on the cards.*

Alice in Wonderland

Directed by Tim Burton, this fantasy-adventure film tells the story of 19-year-old Alice, who has to slay the Jabberwocky to restore the White Queen to her throne. Expect lots of extravagant garments and makeup.

Maleficent

This dark fantasy remake, featuring Angelina Jolie, explores the untold story of villain Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty. It's a must-see, if we do say so ourselves.

Cinderella

Cinderella, or 'Ella' as she was dubbed in the remake, was played by the inimitable Lily James. As well as falling head over heels for Kit, we also took a liking to the incredible princess-worthy ballgown.
