Been watching Dance Moms and keen relive your days in grade 3 ballet? Here’s some excellent dance classes (that are slightly more age-appropriate) for you to have a go at.

Seen On Screen

Ever looked at those guys and girls popping their bits behind Rihanna, Miley et al and thought, ‘Hey, I reckon I’d be alright at that’? It’ll take five minutes of one of Seen on Screen classes to realise that you are, in fact, never going to be Beyoncé, but you’ll have a lot of fun figuring it out. Choose from classes with names like Britney vs Justin, Aaliyah vs Usher or Bug-A-Boo Destiny’s Child.

Pole Dancing

Seriously, it's actually classified as a 'sport' now, according to the Pole Dancing World Cup that took place in Brazil a few weeks ago. The studio at Body Barre in Manchester has 18 poles, so you definitely won't have to do the moves all by yourself in front of everyone else and look like a ninny. You’ll be Kate Moss in no time.

Fierce

If you’re after a class that’s more about having fun than getting all the moves perfectly right (yes please), take a look at a Fierce class at Virgin Active. Inspired by African dances and rhythms, this class will have you stamping, swinging, dancing and twisting, which, it turn, is great for body toning. Hooray.

Hula & Tahitian

If you can channel fragrant waves of gentle sea breezes, then you'll be somewhere close to what Pineapple Studio's Polynesian dance class will have you feeling. According to the studio, the classes will make you graceful: 'After just a few classes, you'll be moving your body in new ways that are both natural and extremely feminine.' Sign us up.

Ballet

In case you're keen to go back to the yesteryears of Madame Rosie's weekly Saturday morning ballet class, in which you mastered not just first but also *second *position, then the Northern Ballet School in Leeds has got some excellent adult classes for all levels. Plus, at £6.50 a pop they're a total bargain.

*Dance Moms is exclusively on Lifetime Mondays at 9pm. Sky 156/Virgin 242
