ITV's new crime thriller Code of Silence has finally dropped and we can't wait to binge it all. In just a few days, the highly anticipated series has already been described as a 'triumph' by critics and a 'fresh' version of the cop drama format.

The six-part show follows a Deaf police station cafeteria worker Alison (played by Rose Alying-Ellis) who has to step in to lip read during investigations, as nobody else is available. After secretly listening in to police cases, she's drawn into an elaborate case involving the biggest criminal gangs in Kent. But Alison can't help but form an attachment to one of the main suspects.

ITV describes Code of Silence as 'a dangerous game of pursuit' and an 'unmissable new crime drama'. But even better, the drama has an incredible cast...

Rose Ayling-Ellis as Alison

Ayling-Ellis is a British actor who has been Deaf since birth. She's best known as Frankie Lewis in EastEnders, a role she had from 2020 to 2022. She also won Strictly Come Dancing with Giovanni Pernice in 2021 and was the show's first Deaf contestant.

When asked about her new role in Code of Silence, she told Radio Times: 'It offers a more truthful experience of a Deaf person lip reading. You want to be authentic to the experience of Deaf people, but it's an entertaining drama as well, so you need a mix of the two.'

Kieron Moore as Liam

Moore plays Liam, Alison’s love interest. He's an actor and poet and previously boxed competitively. He did this for 12 years before changing career paths and moving into acting and modelling. He previously had a role in Vampire Academy, where he played Dimitri Belikov, and played Sgt Clifford Starkey in Apple TV+'s Masters of The Air.

Andrew Buchan as James

Marsh is the detective heading up the case we're introduced to. But you might know Buchan from Netflix's Black Doves, where he played Wallace Webb, Keira Knightly's on-screen politician husband. He's also been featured in Broadchurch, Industry, The Crown, COBRA, and The Fixer.

Charlotte Ritchie as Ashleigh

Ashleigh is a Kent and Canterbury police detective. Ritchie tells the London Standard that she is 'very instinctive and not fully by the book, but not a maverick either'.

You might know Ritchie from the adored sitcom Fresh Meat, where she played Oregon, or more recently as Penn Badgley's on-screen wife in the Netflix series, You. In the latter she plays the heiress Kate Lockwood in season four and five. She's also known for roles in Call The Midwife, Ghosts, and Grantchester.

Nathan Armarkwei Laryea as Ben

Ben is another officer tasked with the case. But Laryea is also known for roles in Doctor Who and The Witcher, where he played Valdo Marx.
