The biggest celebrity news of the week has undoubtedly been Caroline Flack stepping down from Love Island, with her replacement for the winter series announced as Laura Whitmore. Unsurprisingly, as she had the biggest job in British television, it has been revealed that Caroline has made a lot of money since she started presenting the hit series in 2015.

The Sun are reporting that Caroline made a eye-watering £3.1 million since becoming the host, through presenting and related product endorsements.

The accounts filed with Companies House by Caroline Flack Ltd in October this year show she made £811,399 last year - making her one of ITV's top presenters. In 2015, she earned just £150,614, but the following year this increased to £664,859, then up to £786,725 in 2018.

Caroline left the show following an incident last week in which she was arrested and charged with assault. On 17 December she announced via Instagram stories that she would leave the ‘best show on telly’ because she did not want to ‘detract attention from the upcoming series’.

She wrote, 'While matters were not as have been reported, I am committed to co-operating with the appropriate authorities and I can’t comment further on these matters until the legal process is over.' She signed off her message: ’and my boyfriend Lewis…I love you x’. The day before, Lewis had, referred to Flack as ‘the most lovely girl’ and hit out at ‘the lies and abuse aimed at my girlfriend’.

Laura - a close friend of Flack's and girlfriend to Love Island's voiceover, Iain Stirling - was announced as her replacement yesterday, beating other favourite Rylan Clark-Neal, Gemma Collins and Maura Higgins. The start date has now been confirmed for 12 January, with some contestants already being rumoured{ =nofollow}.
