Suicide Squad, the superhero film about a bunch of outsider non-heroes (villains, even?!) with superpowers trying to do battle with the Joker and the government, is out in 2016. But that didn’t stop its makers from stoking the hype (why not?) at Comic Con this year.
The first trailer for the film – starring Will Smith all beardy and mature, Margot Robbie as a face-tattooed grunge-goth (like Gwen Stefani and Courtney Love had a child who went to Cyber Dog and did pills), Viola Davis as some evil government schemer pulling all the strings behind the scenes, Jared Leto as the sinister and half-naked Joker (no, not Rita Ora’s boyfriend Ricky Hil) and Cara Delevingne as, well… a very lonely woman.
Because, while the rest of the Squad all appear together in the group scenes/the ones which aren’t throwbacks to The Silence Of The Lambs, Cara’s out on her own. In a cave, in a bath, freaking out in her role of Enchantress. We can’t wait to see less of her isolation and more of her actually being this super-villain. As for Ben Affleck’s Batman? We’ll just have to wait and see, but as far as the trailer goes, it’s chilling with or without him there…
