Dust off your brains, guys, because South Park will, in its Season 19 premiere (yes, it’s older than those who should admit, in public, to watching it), take a look at Caitlyn Jenner and what MailOnline call: ‘the topic of transgenders’.
The press release teases that the episode, called Stunning and Brave, will feature a storyline where ‘the boys express respect for Caitlyn Jenner’. Something tells us Caitlyn won't actually voice her cartoon character.
The episode will see the boys take a look at their foul-mouthed, politically incorrect history: ‘There is a new principal at the helm of South Park Elementary. He forces the boys to confront the damage they've done through their history of racism and unconscious bias.'
It's exciting to see Caitlyn – whose show Call Me Cait has finished its first series just around the same time the former Olympian athlete, a dedicated Republican, came round to the idea of same-sex marriage – get more coverage. Because the more people who know about her, the tiny bit more they might understand that trans people are just as worthy of attention and consideration as cis (that means people whose outside gender matches their inner one) people.
We do wonder, though, if it’ll be decent coverage. After all, South Park is the TV series that spent a whole episode calling Kanye West – Caitlyn’s son-in-law – a gay fish:
