Buffy The Vampire Slayer is back. The iconic series originally aired for seven seasons, pitting its star Sarah Michelle Gellar against a seemingly never-ending parade of demons, monsters and even gods. But through it all, the teenage heroine always looked amazing.
Now, with the series finally available in its entirety on All 4, Grazia has done a crucial dive into the archives and chosen Buffy's most iconic looks. Take a stroll through her envy-inducing closet.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Most Stylish Moments
Once a Cheetah...
In Season 1, Episode 8, Moloch the Corruptor accidentally gets scanned into the archives and becomes a demonic robot. Oops! Buffy confronts him in a super cute cheetah print coat, a highlight of an incredibly strong season for Buffy style.
Always the Choker...
Buffy was a style pioneer way ahead of her time. She wore chokers and neckerchiefs long before they became a high street staple. This blue number - seen in Season 1's Out Of Sight Out Of Mind - must have made invisible girl Clea Duvall green with envy. You just wouldn't have known it.
Hell For Leather
Buffy's calling meant that a little thing like a school prom often fell by the wayside, but she always looked good. In Season 1's electrifying finale, she combined her gorgeous white gown with a more functional leather jacket. The contrast makes a genuinely iconic look rarely topped in the show's seven seasons.
It'll Be All White...
In Season 3, Episode 20 - The Prom - Buffy endured a miserable nightmare of where her love for Angel could lead. In short, a wedding that ended in flames. But before that, she got to wear a pretty stunning dress. The off-the-shoulder cut and the tulle skirt was playful and youthful, but still appropriate. If only it hadn't turned to ash.
Neck and neck...
What did we tell you about Buffy and neckwear? In Season 1's The Pack, Buffy combines a chic little scarf with a very cool suede jacket. Or is it velour? Who cares, matched with her excellent up-do, it's an absolute style win.
Pretty In Pink
Season 3's The Prom went a little better than Buffy's first attempt at high school formal. She didn't die, for one. Receiving an award for Class Protector, there wasn't a dry eye in the house as she tool to the stage in a gorgeous pink, strapless number.
Lady In Red
Honestly, this is one of Buffy's most famous looks, and no wonder. A simple, sleeveless black T-shirt and bright red leather trousers (first seen when she confronts Faith in the thrilling Season 3 finale) makes a killer combination. Get it? Killer combination? Because she almost killed Faith?
Bob's Your Uncle
We loved it when Buffy cut her hair, even it it was a result of an existential crisis. It gave her the opportunity to try out new things. Like Spike. And hats. In Season 6's seminal episode Normal Again, she tries out this little acorn of a hat, coordinated with a suede coat and the biggest roll neck you've ever seen.
On a roll...
Speaking of rollnecks, look at this absolutely divine example of Buffy's excellent way with wool. She wore this long-sleeved white number in Season 4, when Angel showed up and got in the way of her new relationship with Riley. It's a great piece but, it has to be said, you think she'd avoid white. What with all the blood and all.
Leather From An Unknown Woman
Honestly, if anyone else wore this much leather, we'd have a word. Especially in California. But Buffy always pulled it off. This brown number showed up in Season 6's Dead Things, when Buffy pondered why she'd returned from the grave different. At least her wardrobe was intact.
The Cherry On Top
It speaks volumes about Buffy's style that she looked amazing even in her visions. In Season 4's final episode - which saw her meet the first ever Slayer, she wore a summery white and red dress with a cherry print. Perfect for spring, and for making a good first impression with your prehistoric predecessor.
Golden Girl
Look, we're tearing up just looking at the gloriously elegant Joyce Summers. But, through the tears, we're loving Buffy's gold blazer in Season 5's The Crush, which saw Drusilla return.
THE COAT
Of all the looks, one screams Buffy more than any. As Season 2 drew to a close, and Buffy began to comprehend that she would have to kill her true love Angel, she found new Slayer Kendra dead in the library (anyone for Cluedo). Her blue coat, flying behind her as she sprinted to the crime scene, has been on our wish list ever since.
