A familiar face popped up on our screens a few weeks back. It was slimmer, a bit more chiseled, but it was definitely that of Ricky from The Kaiser Chiefs – sitting next to Kylie Minogue on BBC’s answer to the talent show format, The Voice. Talk about a blast from the past eh?

Ricky’s been pretty open about his involvement with The Voice. He told

is up and it sounds er, pretty Kaiser Chiefs-y in an I Predict A Riot kind of way. Ricky’s looking fit though; we appreciate a good DD (Double Denim). And we like him on The Voice.

Maximo Park

Who Were They? Underrated band lost in the Indie landfill that was 2006. And possibly under singer Paul Smith’s silly hat.

What Are They Releasing? Released, an album. Too Much Information came out earlier this week.

What Does It Sounds Like? Oh it’s good. First single Leave This Island leaves the stompy guitar riffs behind and embraces a more modern sounding pop vibe.

Carl Barat

Who Was He? Member of the Libertines alongside Pete Doherty. The pair’s relationship (and Pete’s habitual drug taking and burgling of Carl’s house) ripped and tore the band apart.

What’s He Releasing? An album supposedly. With a guy called Joby Ford. It was meant to be out in January but no sign just yet.

What’s it sound like? Dunno. Not heard anything. But he did announce on Facebook that, “My relationship with my guitar is all patched up.” Whatever that means.
