How are you going to spend your screentime this month? Here's how.
1. Daft Punk Unchained
This was on iPlayer a while ago and everyone was raving about it. Following the career of the notoriously camera shy helmet wearing DJs, this BBC Worldwide film is the first documentary on the duo and includes Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and Giorgio Williams. Do they finally take their helmets off? You'll have to watch it.
2. Belle
This is a lovely film. Starring Gugu Mbatha Raw as Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate black daughter of the nephew of the Earl of Mansfield who was raised by the Earl in London in the late 1700's - a time when most black people in England wouldn't even have been free men and women, let alone a member of the nobility. It's a beautiful film, Gugu is an absolute dream to watch and serves to remind us that, even nearly 250 years later, people are still fighting to be recongised by society.
3. The Fault In Our Stars
Oh God. Alright. Watch this. But don't watch it on a Monday, a Sunday, or a Tuesday. Or while you're PMS'ing. Or on any other day that you might be feeling slightly vulnerable. It's a good film, but it's heavy on the cancer. And teenage romance. And teenage romance affected by cancer. Prepare to be in tears from about 12 minutes in.
4. Before We Go
It's Captain America! Being a romantic chap who rescues a girl stuck in Grand Central Station in New York after her purse is stolen and she misses the last train. The two spend the night wandering around the city together being VERY TWEE doing kooky things. It's nice though. Good on a hangover.
5. Million Dollar Arm
Jonny Jon Hamm is in this. Being dreamy, unavailable and slightly jerk-ish. In a way that makes you fancy him all the more. This is the true(ish) story of a guy who ran a competition in India (big into cricket) to find a bowler who could become America's (big into baseball) newest baseball star. Turns out all it takes are three lovely chaps from India and a super hot next door neighbour (Lake Bell) to help Jon Hammy Hamm learn how to love.
6. Marco Polo 2
Middle Ages sex in faraway lands? Yeah we'll take that thanks. This is season two of Netflix's original series about 13th century explorer Marco Polo and the time he spent in the Mongolian Empire. It's dastardly, very erotic and stars Lorenzo Richelmy (yeah) as Marco Polo who is all sorts of dreamy.
7. Labyrinth
It's the 30th anniversairy of that weird, weird film that was always on telly when you were little. Starring David Bowie, revisit Labyrinth for a spot of nostalgia or, if you've managed to get this far without watching it (a quite frankly amazing feat) then dive on in for the first time.
