Because, realistically, what else were you going to do this evening?

All The Best New Things To Be Added To Netflix In April

Here's what we'll be watching on Netflix this April, because who really has the time (or patience) to scroll through never ending lists of shows you've never heard of? We've got you covered.

1. The Get Down

Part 2 of the Netflix Original ‘The Get Down’ is making it’s way to a laptop screen near you and holy mother of pearl, does it look good. If you’re late to the Get Down Party, you’ve still got a few days to catch up on what went down in the South Bronx last season. And if you’re as big of a fan of Herizen Guardiola (the girl who plays Mylene) as we are, here’s your need to know.

2. Girlboss

Brand new series coming at ya, folks. And our spidey senses are telling us it’s going to be a good’un. It’s a comedy inspired by Sophia Amoruso’s autobiography of the same name and basically follows the main character Sophie (played by Britt Robertson off of Tomorrowland) as she grows into an eventually successful businesswoman. We’re getting inspiring yet #relatable vibes from this one.

3. Dear White People

Based on the 2014 film ‘Dear White People’ (it won a Sundance Film award too, btw), this new series will be looking at the racial tension at a big American Ivy League university. The trailer doesn’t give too much away but basically shows a girl, Sam, using her radio show to tell students that wearing ‘blackface’ as a Halloween costume is super offensive. If the satirical drama is anything like the film, we could be looking at another Netflix success story here, guys.

4. Riverdale

OMG WHAT TOOK SO LONG?! In case you weren’t already aware, Team Debrief is pretty hooked on Riverdale and it’s not been on for a couple of weeks. If you’re not yet familiar with the whole thing, though, read our guide to your next Netflix obsession. New episodes are incoming and hopefully, we’ll finally work out who actually killed Jason.

5. Casting JonBenet

If true-crime documentaries have been missing from your Saturday night TV routine, you’ll want to get on board with Casting JonBenet. It’s based on the murder of six-year-old girl JonBenet Ramsey back in 1996. She was a contestant in a beauty pageant and rather than a couple of hours watching the pros talk about what went down, this film is told through local actors auditioning for parts in the reconstructions for the show. Yeah, it’s all sort of time-warp confusing. But we’re already hooked after watching the trailer.

6. Magic Mike

FINALLY – Magic Mike is readily available for us to shamelessly watch over and over (and over) again. Channing Tatum is at absolute peak sex-appeal and plays a stripper in San Francisco. You’ve seen the trailer. You’ve probably already seen the film. There’s very little else that needs to be said. Send your housemate out for wine. Your Friday night has been sorted.

7. The Longest Yard

Adam Sadler gets a bad rep, guys. And okay, it's not like he produces Academy Award level movies, but if you’re a fan/up for nice and easy viewing/haven’t seen The Longest Yard yet, give it a go. Chris Rock is in it. He’s funny. It’s a sports comedy re-make of a 1976 film and has just entered the Netflix universe and you’ll secretly enjoy it more than you care to admit.

8. Matilda

Matilda takes on a whole new meaning when you re-watch it in your 20s, but we never quite got over the fact that reading every book in reach didn’t give us magical powers. The fact that the name Trunchbul still sends shivers down your spine and screaming ‘you can do it Bruce’ is the sincerest form of encouragement you can give to your mates is enough of a reason to re-watch this classic.

9. Absolutely Fabulous Specials: Gay

Who said Christmas specials are only to be watched in December? In this episode of Ab Fab, Eddy finds out that her son is gay, goes to find him, and wreaks havoc in New York in the process. Would recommend as one to watch on a lazy hungover Sunday afternoon if the weather isn’t living up to sunny expectations.
