We might have just had the Golden Globes{
The Joker has received a whopping 11 nominations, with The Irishman and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood both garnering 10 nods each. There were also nine nominations for 1917, six nominations for Jojo Rabbit and five nominations for Little Women, Marriage Story and The Two Popes.
Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose), Saoirse Ronan (Little Women), Charlize Theron (Bombshell) and Renee Zellweger (Judy) are in the running for best actress, while the best actor category lists Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon A Time), Adam Driver (Marriage Story), Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) and Jonathan Pyrce (The Two Popes).
Margot Robbie is up for two supporting actress trophies, for her part as Sharon Tate in Once Upon A Time… and as a fictionalised producer in Bombshell, a film about the Fox News sexual assault scandal. Scarlett Johansson was also nominated for best actress, for her role in Marriage Story, and best supporting actress for her role in JoJo Rabbit.
Controversy has already started to build over the list - no female directors have been nominated and the acting categories are overwhelmingly white. As one Twitter user said, 'When Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson each get two noms, over names like Lupita Nyong'o, Jennifer Lopez, Awkwafina and Cynthia Erivo - or talent in British films like Marianne Jean-Baptiste or BIFA winner Ruthxjiah Bellenea - it makes BAFTA look almost stubbornly limited.'
