Right that’s it. Summer is over. We tried to hold on, but it’s gone, slipping through our fingers faster than that brand new iPhone 6 we drunkenly managed to drop in the Mediterranean during an ill-advised ‘water selfie’ mission.
One good thing about the temperature dropping though, is that you no longer have to go out. If all that summer socialising was starting to take its toll (a suntan only goes so far to cover up gray, spotty, alcohol-rubbished skin), then give it a rest and get ready for an autumn doing nothing more than sitting in front of the telly box. Here’s what you’ve got to look forward to.
Peep Show, Season 9
‘Hitler promised not to invade Czechoslovakia Jeremy, welcome to the real world’. Tough love advice from Mark Corrigan, which you too can use on yourself when you get sad that this, the final series of Peep Show comes to an end.
In case you can’t remember what you’re in for (the end of season 8 was three years ago now), Mark and Jeremy were locked in a furious battle over Dobby in the Quantocks. Dobby, however, buggered off to New York. Will Jeremy and Mark ever find love or are they destined to spend the rest of their lives bound together in misery? Probably the latter.
Due: Autumn 2015, Channel 4
Made In Chelsea, Season 10
OBVIOUSLY. BECAUSE IT’S NEVER NOT ON. We’ve created a reality TV monster with all that incessant watching. The gang are back from LA, tensions are still running high and, for some reason, we’re stoked to jump back into the world of mega bantz and hairless males. Oh. Ollie Locke is back too.
Due: October 2015, E4
Fresh Meat, Season 4
Yet another favourite series that’s coming to an end. This time around, the gang are in their final year of university and who’s come to join them? JP’s brother, who’s almost certainly going to be another terrible human being.
Elsewhere, Vod’s struggling with debt and Oregon is flying high as the student union president.
Due: Autumn 2015, Channel 4
Catastrophe, Season 2
Did you fall head over heels in love with Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan in Catastrophe earlier this year? Luckily, the two got their act together swiftly and are due to deliver season 2 very, very soon. Will the baby help the two come back from their terrible, awful, no good fight? Hope so.
Due: Autumn 2015, Channel 4
Modern Family, Season 7
Alex is off to college, Andy and Hayley didn’t work out the way they were supposed to and Mitch has lost his job. Phil, in the meantime, is probably still being Phil. Never change Phil, never change.
Due: October 2015, Sky 1
The Muppets, Season 1
Unlike The Muppets of your parents’ day, this new TV show isn’t a bonkers variety show, it’s a comedy about the Muppets and their personal life. If you’ve kept up with the news at all this summer, you'll know that Miss Piggy and Kermit are no more and instead, the no-good green frog has shacked up with a younger, hotter model called Denise. Miss Piggy is going to go HAM on her ass.
Due: October 2015, Sky 1
Luther, Season 4
The man that’s too ‘street’ (seriously, Anthony Horowitz?) to play Bond is back in our favourite Idris role as the damaged detective solving crimes in London’s dark underworld.
There’s only two epsiodes this time around and what with Idris Elba’s giant A-list fame status now, could be the last one.
Due: Autumn 2015, BBC One
American Horror Story: Hotel
Too scary for me (if you’ve never watched it, AHS is really, truly, terrifying),but nevertheless plenty of you love it. Season 5 is called Hotel and set in, erm, a hotel. BUT this is no ordinary hotel because other than the obvious ghouls and demons that are bound to inhabit it, it’s also owned by a mysterious countess played by Lady Gaga.
Oh, and her character once had a love affair with a woman played by Angela Bassett.
Due: 20 October 2015, FXUK
Orphan Black, Season 3
The ever-popular clone drama is back for a third season. At this point we’re beyond confused about which clone’s doing what and who’s meant to be good and/or bad, but if you’re one of the Orphan Black obsessives (and the show’s fans are REALLY into the show) then BBC3 has got you covered.
Due: Autumn 2015, BBC3
Chewing Gum, Season 1
We’ve been waiting for this one for ages. Based on Michaela Coel’s play of the same name, this six-part comedy show features Michaela as Tracey, a 22-year-old Beyoncé obsessive trying to figure out the confusing world of adulthood.
Due: Autumn 2015, Channel 4
