If you've started your Monday by waking up and scanning the list of Oscar nominees and winners for 2025 and realised you *still* haven’t watched the most talked-about films of the night, then now’s your time to get busy. First up is arguably the film of the evening, Anora, which earned star Mikey Madison her first Oscar aged 25 for her portrayal of the titular character, a sex worker from Brooklyn who falls in love with a Russian oligarch’s son.
The film has earned rave reviews for its extraordinary performances and unsentimental portrayal of the realities of sex work - you can watch the trailer for Anora here:
Can you still watch Anora in the cinema?
Well, good news if you don’t have to work today, Anora is still showing in some cinemas, so it’s worth having a look it see if it’s on anywhere near you - it’s likely to get more screenings in the upcoming weeks following the film’s five wins at the Oscars last night.
Is Anora available to stream in the UK yet?
If not, or if you’re planning on a cheeky screening in between meetings today, then you can rent the film at home. Anora isn’t available to stream yet - although it has been announced that the film will be available on Hulu from 17th March. A release date hasn’t been yet been announced for UK streaming services, but it’s looking likely that it would stream on Sky Cinema and NOW TV as it was released by Universal in the UK.
Can you rent Anora at home in the UK?
The short answer is yes. You can rent Anora from Prime Video, iTunes or the Microsoft store. To rent the film on Prime or Apple TV it’ll cost you £4.99, or £11.99 to buy, but you’ll be able to watch the Oscar-winning film right this second, from the comfort of your own home and pretend you watched it months ago in anticipation of it winning the top prize!
