Warning; huge spoiler alert - don't say we didn't warn you...
If you've had time to watch the first episode of theSex And The City reboot, And Just Like That, then I am so sorry. I send my condolences. If you haven't watched it, then maybe you shouldn't - as while we can debate how good the first episode is (personally, I hated it, and thought it was as bad - if not worse - than the movies), one thing that can't be denied is that the last scene is horrifying to watch.
In the first instalment, we see Carrie and Big happy - despite reports before the series that the pair might split. But what happens in the last few minutes is so much worse than the pair getting a divorce...
Big dies of a heart attack in the shower (after training on his Peloton bike), while Carrie watches and cradles him. Just before, Carrie had been watching a Charlotte's (now grown-up daughter) Lily at a piano recital, which meant it was complete with haunting music.
And unbelievably, the episode ends with Carrie saying: 'And just like that, Big died.'
Honestly, I am still trying to compute what happened. The second episode, cleverly called Little Black Dress, obviously covers the funeral for John James Preston (sorry, sometimes we forget his actual name isn't Mr Big).
In real life, Chris Noth - the actor who plays Big - recently waded into the feud between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall (which is believed to be one of the reasons Kim didn't return as Samantha for the reboot). And it might not shock you that he sided with his on-screen partner, Carrie. 'I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable,' he said, speaking to the Guardian this week{
Noth added, ‘I just don’t like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that. That’s all I’ll say about that.’
