And Just Like That: We Get It, Che Diaz Smokes Weed

Please can the writers stop mentioning it at every given opportunity?

Che Diaz Miranda Hobbes

Episode seven of And Just Like That, theSex And The City reboot has dropped, and in it, Carrie finally returns to the world of dating. OK, so it's only because her publisher told her Oprah's Book Club would be interested in the book if she provided some light after the darkness of Big's death - by going on a date - but oh well. She goes out for drinks with a teacher, and subsequently vomits in the street after drinking too much.

Carrie isn't the only one of the main three grappling with relationships though. Miranda is still unhappy in her marriage with Steve - and turns, yet again, to the allure of comedian/Carrie's boss, Che Diaz{ =nofollow}, who she has been fantasising about. The pair have sex again, and Miranda even drops the L-bomb, saying she thinks she loves them. (What?!)

But of course, where there is Che Diaz, there is weed. I hate to break it to Miranda, but the main love of Che's life will never be another person, for that space in her heart is taken by marijuana. A moment of silence, please.

Of course, the whole reason the two got it on in the first place was because Che shotgunned Miranda when they were both at Carrie's apartment. (Please, don't remind me of that kitchen scene.) The second time round, when Miranda told Che she was good at sex, Che then - obviously - said that the weed helps. I have lost track of how many other times Che has mentioned/alluded to/smoked it, because I am so very bored of being reminded every five seconds. It's a repetitive joke, and one that isn't very funny.

Now, smoking weed is a personal choice - and I don't care if she wakes and bakes, whatever. Good for them. (In fact, I'm kind of jealous, weed just leaves me intensely paranoid, wanting to scream,) But in every single scene they're in, they feel the need to make some sort of reference to it. Che's weed-smoking habit is now her defining character trait, which feels like lazy writing at best.

But, the very worst of all, Che also smokes around everyone, all the time, without a care given that anybody else just might not like the putrid smell. Che was even smoking at Big's funeral - and offered some to Miranda's son, Brady - like, I know Che is supposed to be edgy and no fucks given, but come on now, that's just embarrassing.

So please, I'm asking the universe, in the next three episodes can we please get a reprieve from Che smoking? (And can Miranda, please, not break Steve's heart.)
