Who do you think of as being the most comfortable with getting frisky on Sex And The City. It probably isn't Miranda (even though she's currently having an affair with 'Hey, it's Che Diaz'). If you're asking about the original, then we'd definitely say Samantha - the self-proclaimed 'try-sexual', meaning she'd try anything once. (And boy, did we believe her.) But nobody would answer the Park Avenue princess Charlotte, would they?
Yet the series' showrunner has now suggested that, actually, it's Charlotte who is the most comfortable and content in the bedroom, following the latest episode where she's caught about to give her husband, Harry, a blowjob by her daughter Lily.
'The idea of Charlotte being actually the most comfortable in bed is always an interesting opposite,' Michael Patrick King says on the show's podcast The Writers Room.
King then goes to explain how the writers explore opposites in the episode, with Charlotte being so open with Harry, but so uptight with her daughter, Lily. In addition, he notes how 'Carrie, who is so comfortable with her style and who she is ... in front of [her new neighbour] Lisette becomes fragile and judgey of herself', while Miranda, who is usually led by her brain, is now being carried away with her desire for Che.
To support the claim that Charlotte has always been the most confident about sex, King also references a classic scene in the original series where she announces that her first husband, Trey, likes rimming. 'People always say Charlotte's the preppy, the uptight one,' he said. 'And back in the day, in this series, we actually made sure there was one scene in a coffee shop where I think it was "tuchis-lingus" [mentioned], where she says, "Well, Trey likes it" and they go, "What?" And she goes, "We're married!"'
Well, there you have it. We still miss Samantha, by the way.
