In And Just Like That, the after shocks of that sex scene in last week's are continuing to be felt. Sitting down for a picnic - where Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte have switched their Cosmos for non-alcoholic wine - Miranda admits to her friends that she hasn't been able to stop fanatisising about Che, Carrie's boss. This probably wasn't news to Carrie, who caught the pair having sex in the kitchen (and then wet the bed, as Miranda was too busy to help Carrie go for a wee). But Charlotte was absolutely horrified by the revelation.
While Charlotte was right to remind Miranda that she was having an affair - despite Miranda's argument that it was 'just a finger', she is married to Steve - she then proceeded to ask Miranda: 'Are you gay now?' Miranda then said she didn't know, and said: 'Anyway, it's not as simple as gay or straight - Che identifies as non-binary.'
This is when Charlotte is properly out of order, telling Miranda that because she's always been with men, her feelings toward Che couldn't possibly be legit. 'You are not progressive enough for this,' Charlotte continues. As Miranda walks away, she then screams: 'You're having a mid-life crisis - you should have just dyed your hair!'
While Charlotte's sneering, and rigid views on sexuality, are particularly harsh in this scene - it's not exactly surprising that she's dismissive of Miranda's sexuality. Charlotte is renowned for being uptight, and she spent most of the original series more concerned about getting married to a man than her friendship to the girls. (Hell, she proposed to Trey McDougal after a month.)
For all their flaws, I love all three of the main women. (And, it goes without saying, Samantha - RIP, you are missed every AJLT episode.) But even the most diehard SATC fan has to admit, Charlotte can be the absolute worst. She might be sweet at times, loyal, not to mention incredibly chic, but nothing can hide the fact that she's also selfish, judgemental and obsessive (sometimes about things that really, really don't matter).
She repeatedly slut-shamed Samantha (famously calling her vagina the 'hottest place in town' when Samantha slept with Charlotte's brother, even though they were both consenting adults. And Charlotte may have been struggling with her own fertility issues, but remember how terribly she treated Miranda when she fell pregnant? And how Harry married her - when she repeatedly mentioned how she thought she was much better looking she was him - is a mystery.
Hopefully, in the next episode, Charlotte apologises to Miranda, and sees the error of her ways. However, as Charlotte really can be a terrible person, we wouldn't be that surprised if it takes a little longer.
