Adolescence was one of the most talked about shows of 2025 for multiple reasons: newcomer Owen Cooper’s incredible performance as Jamie, the impressive continuous shot technique used for each episode, and the shocking themes of male violence and incel culture, to name just a few.
Season one of Adolescence followed 13-year-old Jamie who was placed under arrest for the brutal murder of his classmate, Katie. The show— which was made up of four episodes - sparked conversations regarding social media and the radicalisation of teenage boys, and it had fans clamouring for more. The show drew in over 66 million viewers and earned critical acclaim, especially for Owen Cooper’s portrayal of the complicated Jamie and Stephen Graham's performance as his father, Eddie. That isn’t to say the supporting cast— including Top Boy's Ashley Walters as Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe and Erin Doherty as child psychologist Briony Ariston— weren't equally impressive.
So, will there be a series two?

Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B has confirmed that talks are underway about a potential second season of Adolescence. However, that doesn’t mean we’ll definitely be given one.
According to Deadline, Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are speaking to director Philip Barantini about the ‘next iteration’ of the show. Gardner revealed they are hoping to ‘widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive.’
However, writer Jack Thorne believes that if they were to do another project, it would not centre around the characters in series one. On This Morning, Thorne said, ‘Jamie's story is finished. I don't think there's anywhere more we can take Jamie, so I don't think there is a series two. We'd love to explore the one-shot format another way. We'd love to tell other stories with it, but I don't think a series two of Adolescence is quite right for us.’
What will Adolescence series two be about?
Like Jack Thorne said, Jamie’s story has come to an end, meaning the next instalment will most likely feature a brand new cast. However, fans are still hoping the gripping one shot technique as well as the uncomfortable and challenging themes will make a return.
Will Stephen Graham be in Adolescence series two?
Star Stephen Graham— who also co-produced the show alongside his wife, Hannah Walters— would be on board for a second iteration of Adolescence, and he told Variety that he saw ‘the possibility of developing another story’, adding, ‘let's see how the figures are.’
When can we watch Adolescence series two?
Since the second series is in very early talks and nothing has been pinned down yet, we likely won’t be able to see a second series for quite some time.
