Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays - I feel like September is always full of birthdays and anniversaries. It’s nine months after all those Christmas flings happened (Happy birthday if you’re turning a year older this month!) and a time of year when everyone gets their act together - maybe going to a new city and starting a new club or party. This weekend Rinse FM and Subculture continue their celebrations of having spent 20 years in the game and they’ll need your help to celebrate properly.

plus residents they are CONVINCED you’ll “wear out the soles of your pumps / snap your heels clean off” before the end of the night. “Dress to jam” they say, which, judging by the poster means where the brightest and best thing you own.

20 Years Of Subculture After Party w Lil Tony @ Sub Club, Glasgow

Like Rinse, one of the world’s longest running weekly clubs (that’s what this says anyway) continues to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary this year. But, before you get to thinking that 1994 must have been amazing and we’re all just doomed now - get down to the latest party from Harri & Domenic this Saturday. After a boat party in the day catch Lil Tony (the central character on Helsinki’s club scene and all round great-fun DJ) alongside residents.

Festival No 6 @ Portmeirion, Wales

Fri Sep 5

If you’ve ever seen cult-tv show The Prisoner you’ll already be familiar with the weirdness of Portmeirion, a tourist village in North Wales based on the Italian village of Portofino. It’s great whatever is going on but this weekend there is added incentive to visit with Festival No.6 - a festival they say is “serene, spiritual and very very special… sculpted for those who enjoy life’s finer things”. It might be a bit late notice to go for the whole weekend but pick a day and get on the train and you can still see the likes of Beck, London Grammar, Kelis, Jon Hopkins, Julio Bashmore, Todd Terje, Andrew Weatherall, Bodhi and a lot more. And if you do stay over, or make the trip next year, there’s a lot of choice.

Best of the rest
