Summer, we barely knew you :(

Don’t feel doomy when you see the words ‘End of Summer party’. Just celebrate the fact that soon nights out will take on a different sense of occasion - one where you run in from a dark rainy night to a friend's for a pre-club warm up, listening to music in comfort and enjoying a takeaway. Come going-out time you’ll run down the cold leaf-mulch road as fast as possible because you haven’t taken a jacket (cloak room queues are a pain) and will immediately break into a misty-sweat the moment you get inside a club. Before you put away the pool slides for another year - we’re promised some warm days to come - check out these end of summer events taking place this weekend.

**Burn Out Festival End Of Summer Party w/ MF Doom, Preditah, Zed Bias, Newham Generals @ Victoria Warehouse, Manchester **

Fri Aug 29

Following on from the Burn Out night that took place at Manchester’s Kraak gallery in July is this send off at the city’s Victoria Warehouse space. Taking in hip-hop, grime and plenty of multi-genre electronica music, get down from kick off to see the likes of Klose One, Spooky, the heavy, hard and spacey Darq E Freaker, free-remix favourite DJ Q, UKG long timer Zed Bias, producer Paleman plus grime from Birmingham’s Preditah and D Double E and Footsie AKA Newham Generals. Alt hip-hop overlord and mask-wearer MF Doom will headline. The venue also houses a hotel, if you’re feeling decadent and can’t be bothered to go home afterwards.

**Sensu Boat Party feat East Everything @ Clyde Cruises, Glasgow **

Sensu After Party feat Eats Everything @ Sub Club Glasgow

Fri Aug 29

If you missed out on all the boat parties taking place in Croatia this summer, this final Sensu boat jolly might be the next best thing. Leaving from the Glasgow Science Centre at 7pm (get there for 6.30pm or else), you can sail down the Clyde to the sound of a set from Bristol’s Eats Everything (‘this is a guy who certainly knows how to rock the boat’ say promoters) plus ‘deck hands’ Junior and Barry Price. If you don’t have sea-legs or really do prefer to keep your water-clubbing to places that calls for a bikini rather than a Sou’wester there’s an after party at Sub Club where Eats will continue the party.

Stay Fresh w Bok Bok & Faze Miyake @ The Art School, Glasgow

Sat Aug 30

East End Social Last Big Weekend @ Richmond Park, Glasgow (& Sunday)

Sat Aug 30

Sun Aug 31

Also in Glasgow is the slightly-doomy sounding THE LAST BIG WEEKEND in Richmond Park. Featuring ‘One Big Top, Two Great Parties’ on the Saturday you can hear plenty on the noisier side of things with a headline set from Scottish institution Mogwai, the earslamming Fuck Buttons, ‘sonic voyager’ James Holden plus bands like The Twilight Sad, The Wedding Present and Honeyblood. The Sunday is a celebration of the city’s connection to some of the most exciting electronic music in the world and fantastic club scene with the needs-no-intro huge sound of Hudson Mohawke, Optimo and Jackmaster plus the pioneering Jeff Mills, LCD Soundsystem man James Murphy and more. If that’s not enough, also on Saturday at Glasgow Art School promoters Stay Fresh have decided to throw a hype party before the summer ends and they get back to work. Night Slugs’ Bok Bok and Rinse’s Faze Miyake feature.
