According to our pals over at AirBnb, the neighbourhoods in trendy cities that people are looking to book their stays in aren't always the neighbourhoods you'd think.

Over the past year, they've noticed a bonkers increase in new, up-and-coming neighbourhoods around the world - neighbourhoods like Milneberg in New Orleans - just to the north of the city. Over the past year, bookings in the area have gone up a crazy 1500%!

So, where else is good to go? Let's have a look.

1. Milneburg in New Orleans, Louisiana

Big houses in the north of the city near two universities which means party party party party and dead trendy young people.

2. Kampung Bayu in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

To the north of the city, this area is full of beautiful, traditional houses which, next to the shiny shiny skyscrapers of the rest of the city, makes for a nice break. Bookings here have gone up 976%.

3. Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia

I mean, all of Melbourne's pretty cool - this suburb is on it's way to become VERY cool though. Full of vintage shops, wanky coffee shops and art galleries. Bookings have gone up 770%.

4. Konohana-ku, Osaka, Japan

SO many people are heading to Osaka right now. Konohana-ku has the double benefit of being right next to the sea and being home to Universal Studios. Bookings are up 609%.

5. Chutes-Lavie in Marseille

Just on the east of the city, about as far from the main train station as the port, is Chutes-Lavie, an area which has seen bookings go up 604% in the last year.

6. Rockliffe Smythe, Toronto, Canada

The old meatpacking area in Canada's coolest city. It's super green- surrounded by parks and areas of natural beauty and there's apparently a lot of places to eat. Bookings are up 497%.

7. Midtown in Miami, Florida

Less P Diddy and more dead trendy, midtown is good for travellers without cars as it's easy to walk around. Bookings here are up 430%.

8. Narvarte in Mexico City

Mexico City is bloody HUGE and this neighbourhood to the south is likely to be the most chill location you'll find in this city of nearly 10 million. Bookings are up 264%.

9. West Seattle, Seattle

Another good place for those looking to stay away from busy city life. Take advantage of the beaches and nice mountain ranges in the background. Bookings are up 230%.

10. Usera in Madrid, Spain

If you're going to Madrid in the summer, this more spread out, greener neighbourhood makes for a good option for escaping the oppressive heat of Spain's coolest city. Bookings here are up 228%.
