Hello weekend, we've missed you. I know I know, you don't have any plans yet. But never fear, we've got you covered.

Each week we round up the best things to do in a different city across the UK and this week the sun is (almost) shining on Liverpool. So, rally the troops, put some clothes on and get your bum into gear because no weekend goes unacknowledged on our watch.

If you’re as confused about where the hell the week has gone as I am, a little restorative yoga session might be in order. If you make your way down to Sefton Park after work you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a 45minute outdoor yoga session. It’s donation only and might be the wind down from the working week you didn’t realise you needed. Head over to the Facebook event page to find out how to find the class.

Every year charity organisation Brouhaha International puts on the Liverpool International Carnival for your enjoyment. This year is no different except they’ve joined forces with Liverpool International Music Festival (also on this weekend) to make something very exciting. It’s a huge celebration of the merging of loads of different cultures and the theme for 2017 is ‘Many Voices One Song’. Expect lots of music, impressive costumes and a really big crowd. Find out where you can catch the procession on their Facebook event page.

With summer comes lots of variations of the ‘outdoor party’. You’ve got garden parties and rooftop parties but the Attic are hosting the GetDown All Day & Night terrace party, guys. And to be fair, it sounds pretty cool. Entry is free all day and night, there’ll be a gazebo on hand in case of pesky rain and the vibe is described as ‘deep, minimal and techno’. No, I don’t know what that means either but sounds fun. Find out more on the Facebook event page.

Sunday 23 July

By day

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales. To compliment a wider exhibition called ‘Coming Out’, ‘Fashion Icons: Celebrating Gay Designers’ is a brilliant display of costume collections from National Museums Liverpool – all of which showing some of the best work by some of the world’s most famous designers. The exhibition is free to attend and definitely looks worth a visit. Find out more on the museum's website.

Vintage Sundays are a regular feature over at the Picturehouse at FACT, and this weekend you’re in for a real treat: The Princess Bride. If you’re a fan of the classics you’ll feel right at home among fellow film fans watching the reliably entertaining cult fave. And isn’t that what Sundays were made for? Book your tickets on the website.
