Shut down that computer and kick off your shoes - the weekend is here.
Each week we track down the best things to do in a different city across the UK. This week we're looking to Dublin for some fun, so whether you live there or are visiting, take heed of this day by day round up.

‘Once’ was a 2007 Irish hit movie, which was later adapted for stage. If you’re a fan of the love story you’ll love the musical, which is on at the Olympia theatre in Dublin – and, unusually, if you get there early you can even have a drink at the onstage bar. Tickets cost 25 Euros.

With this unseasonably (or, should we say, totally predictably) rainy weather, have a good old cinema day. You can hunker down with a good indie film at the Irish Film Institute – it’s playing war epic Dunkirk this weekend, as well as creepy-looking movie A Ghost Story, which stars Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck.
By night
Boutique events company Film Fatale produces vintage-inspired parties and Event Cinema screenings. This Saturday they are throwing a lavish ‘Prohibition Gatsby’s Mansion’ event in the gardens and great hall of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. Guests will be able to imagine that they’re part of F Scott Fitzgerald's crowd as the IMMA is transformed into Jay Gatsby’s Summer mansion – a warning though: you won’t be admitted if not appropriately attired, so get out the vintage frock. Tickets cost 35 Euros and can be purchased online. Doors: 7pm

If you fancy risking the weather (you daredevil), why not visit the largest enclosed park in any European Capital City, Phoenix Park. Five times bigger than Hyde Park, it's home to a whole herd of wild deer, plus it houses Dublin Zoo (which is also worth a visit!). Bring a picnic along or embark on a good robust walk - there's a good 1,750 acres to cover.
Sunday 13th August
By day
If you’re a comic lover, Dublin Comic Con is the place for you this weekend. And even if you’re not, it looks like it could be a real laugh. Essentially a celebration of movie, television (Game of Thrones viewers take note) and, obviously, comic book fan culture, you’re bound to see some excellent costumes. Tickets are affordable, at 10 Euros for children and 20 Euros for adults – you can pick these up at the Box Office or just buy them online. ** **
