**The Talk To Inspire You

R***eferee! @ The Trouble Club, London *

Fri Nov 7

London's new members spot The Trouble Club opens with a line-up of talks and discussions and it's Friday's event that's caught the Debrief's attention. Titled 'Referee!', it's a three way chat between Telegraph columnist Bryony Gordon, Nandy Dell'Olio and best of all, Chelsea and England Striker Eniola Aluko - who recently made her debut on Match Of The Day - about their experiences of the beautiful game and a discussion of the week's football highlights. FYI: English teams have had a shocker in the Champions League with Liverpool fielding a weakened team against Real Madrid, Arsenal letting a three goal lead go to waste, Man City fluffing it to lose 2-1 against CSKA Moscow and Chelsea only drawing with relatively unstarry Maribor. Perfect whether you play football, are a season ticket holder, religiously tinker with your Fantasy Football team or are only recently deciding the follow the devastating ups-and-downs of all the football leagues.

The Film To Make You Go 'Whaaaaaaa?'

***Interstellar ** *

In UK Cinemas from Nov 7

It's a big week for films, with everything from dark indie drama- comedy featuring Kristen Wiig (The Skeleton Twins) to serious and tragic tales set in the remote parts of Russia (Leviathan) and the grandest of blockbusters (Yes, the Christopher Nolan directed Interstellar). We're going with the last one because, as the bleaker parts of the autumn set in, there's nothing better than sinking into a warm cinema seat and watching action filled, earth destroying, very distracting science-fiction. Will Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway be able to enter the wormhole and find a new habitable planet? And will this mark another chapter (or the end) of the McConaissance?

The Fireworks To Go To If You Can't Let Bonfire Night Go Just Yet

***Fireworks displays, various locations ** *

Sat Nov 8

Diwali's long gone, the last pumpkins have rotted, the John Lewis advert is out, and Guy Fawkes Night was on Wednesday so technically we should have already swapped the fireworks for tinsel, glitter and all that. Still, there are plenty of displays across the UK this weekend. In London along the Southbank you can delight in the annual Fireworks across the river (coinciding with the quite mad sounding Lord Mayors show) or take in the scenery in Battersea Park. The West Midland's Safari Park is being taken over by 'Firework Festival' (although is that safe with the animals?) or you can celebrate the end of the theme park season at Alton Towers, with a fireworks show and rides after dark.

The Shop That's All For A Good Cause

*The British Red Cross Gift House *

From Fri 7 Nov

Alongside their usual charity shops the British Red Cross are taking inspiration from First World War 'Gift Houses' for this Covent Garden pop up. There will be exclusive bits from Stella McCartney, donations from celebrities plus stationary, homewards and other gifts just in time for the festive season. If you can't make it down (or don't want to face the hordes of tourists) why not just visit your local branch. True story - The Debrief once snagged a cashmere polo-neck jumper for just over a fiver.

The Food Fair That's Forthcoming With It's Free Samples

*Foodslam @ Camp & Furnace, Liverpool *

*Fri Nov 7 *

At this time of year means there are plenty of twee little food markets to go to. The streets of every town seem to be filled with the smell of roasting nuts, german sausages hanging from strings and the sounds of buskers playing 'Silent Night' on the panpipes. If that kind of thing isn't for you but you'd still like to sample a lot of foods in one go, then try Camp & Furnace's FOOD SLAM They say, 'sticking two fingers up to formality, it's all about enjoying great quality street food and drink, set against a club soundtrack.' Just turn up to sample their constantly changing menu, whether it's high end oysters and champagne shots or deep fried gooeyness.
