So, according to this map, we’re actually pretty darn lucky when it comes to the minimum number of days we’re allowed to take off from work each year. According to the law, most workers are legally allowed 28 days off per year (although this can include bank holidays). Spare a thought then for our friends in the US who don’t legally get any paid time off unless their boss says they can – a struggle only shared by workers in India, Liberia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Sorry guys :(

Most people we know in the UK though end up with roughly around 25 days off a year, depending on how lenient their boss is when it comes to things like bank holidays and Christmas, and yet we’re *still *complaining that we don’t get enough time off.

To help you out, we’ve worked out exactly which days to take off this year to get the absolute most out of your allotted holiday. Although this exercise involved a very real struggle with a lot of maths we haven’t used in several years, we did manage to get you across the year – one 16-day holiday, three 9-day holidays and one 12-day holiday; all adding up to the princely sum of 55 days of holiday.
