Drake may have cancelled, but rejoice! Wireless Festival is on this weekend and your chances of spotting Kanye West at a Finsbury Park off license have just gone up 100 per cent. And, while he’s not playing any after-parties, there are artists from the line-up appearing at clubs alongside the dates in London and Birmingham. Elsewhere, make sure to check the start of Jackmaster’s XOYO residency and two other festivals, High Definition in Tunbridge Wells and Sun-sets on Weston Super Mare Beach. Ah, summer.

*Friday 4 July

A$AP Ferg plays at Wireless Festival in Birmingham on Friday 4 July and London on Saturday 5 July, but don’t worry if you don’t have a ticket as he’ll also be performing a three song PA at this month’s Livin Proof. The guys say: “Get your tickets A$AP (pun intended!)." Across the way, another US rapper playing Wireless will be entertaining into the night. Alongside UK-favourite Sampha, Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt DJs a ‘Young Turks presents’ 4th of July party. Celebrate US independence/commiserate the US’ loss at the ‘soccer’ with them in the Ace Hotel basement.

If the idea of an afternoon in Finsbury Park makes you come out in hives though, why not head to Corsica studios where Croatian paradise festival Stop Making Sense will be warming up to this summer’s event with sets from disco lovers Tiger & Woods, the spiritual experience that is Psychemagik and Trouble Vision’s Park Ranger. They promise it’ll deliver exactly what makes the festival so good – "an intimate unpretentious vibe soundtracked by some of the most delicious names in underground electronic music" – will likely make you want to book your flight and pack your bags immediately, so see you at the boat parties.

Saturday 5 July

The way Shoreditch in East London looks club-wise this weekend, the whole area could turn in to one big vibey queue. One that’s sure to have people lining up is the first in a residency from Numbers’ hair-champion Jackmaster. Following in the footsteps of The 2 Bears and Eats Everything, he’ll play 13 consecutive Saturdays across July, August and September with supporting line ups promised as “some of the biggest in XOYO’s history”. While he goes it alone for the opener, look forward to Loefah, Slimzee, Alex Boman, Moodymann, Joy Orbison, Artwork, Kenny Dope, Roman Flugel and plenty of other VERY SPECIAL GUESTS dropping by. If it’s not enough XOYO for you, Benji B’s Deviation is the Friday offering –with Kassem Mosse, Travi$ Scott downstairs, Mark Ronson upstairs.

**High Definition Festival@ Eridge Park, Tunbridge Wells **

We’re deep into festival season now, with what feels like more park and city events going on than every before. And while Tunbridge Wells might not seem like the most obvious spot to head on the weekend, if you go down to Eridge Park this weekend, you’ll be treated to sets from Carl Cox, Route 94, Dusky, Bicep, Midland, Will Saul, Joy Orbison, Gorgon City, Oneman, Mistajam, My Nu Leng, All About She, Hannah Wants, Uncle Dugs and a load more. Final release tickets are now available for the reasonable £54.50 here – just get ready for a LOT of lasers.

Saturday 5 July

The Sunsets festival series visits glamorous locations such as Mexico’s Playa Del Carmen, Acapulco, the Toronto Islands in Canada and Ibiza this year, but first it’s off to Weston Super Mare, a North Somerset seaside town I swear I’m only aware of because I vaguely remember the 1990s’ Radio 1 Roadshows taking place there. Anyway, whatever the location, this isn’t a line-up to sniff at. Disclosure headline with a DJ set that brought chaos to Glastonbury’s Arcadia stage last week, supported by the equally popular Annie Mac, MK, Eats Everything, B-Traits, LXURY and Kidnap Kid.

And finally, yet another one if you’re feeling like staying firmly inside and away from the need for suncream, short shorts and having a bladder so large you don’t need to go to the outdoor loos that much, is this night in Cardiff. House/techno young-genius Happa (who just launched his own label earlier this year) plays at Undertone’s Mood night alongside Luke Winds, Tom Bateman, Mr.Ben and Murder. One for your best all-black ‘dance-goths-in-summer’ look?
