I Just Spent A Fortune Visiting NYC – Here’s What I Wish I Knew About Saving On Accommodation

Known for its world-class restaurants, shops and nightlife, visiting the city that never sleeps can come with a severe hit to the bank account. Unfortunately, with my recent trip to the Big Apple in early May, I learned that the hard way.

Flights are never cheap but they are especially expensive over a Bank Holiday weekend. In hindsight, although early May is a gorgeous time to visit – with the sun shining and cherry trees blossoming – choosing an off-peak time to travel would have saved me a fortune. Top tip? Shoulder seasons – the time periods just before or after your destination’s peak season – are the best time to travel. For most places, shoulder seasons are June, August and September, but any time between January and March is usually a safe bet.

Apart from flights, your budget will mostly go on accommodation. I found it so difficult to find something affordable and well-located, which is why I wish I’d known about TUI’s NYC offering. It offers so many luxury hotel packages in some of the best locations from just £800, meaning you can indulge in all the main tourist attractions without having to travel for miles just to get into the city.

From the Artezen Hotel to Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square, there are plenty of savings to be had. Shop the best five-night TUI NYC deals below.
