You Can Airbnb Harry Potter's House

by Rebecca Reid |
Updated on

There are people who enjoy children's books while they're the designated age, then grow up and put them back on the shelf. And then there are Harry Potter fans, many of whom watch the films when they're hungover, get tattoos inspired by the Wizarding world and quote Albus Dumbledore on the reg.

If you're in the latter camp then you'll be excited to discover that you can book yourself into the Potter household. Specifically, the house used as Lily and James Potter's house where they lived in Godric's Hollow around the time that Harry was born, next door to the home of Bathilda Bagshott.

The gloomy among you will also probably point out that it's the house where Lily and James were murdered by Voldemort (fear of the name only increases fear of the thing itself) and where Harry became a orphan.

But despite the sad (and totally fictional) history, the house is is beautiful and presumably irresistible to Potter fans.

In real life the house is based in the pretty village of Lavenham in Suffolk. The owners say that the house is located in 'a stunning medieval Church, several restaurants, loads of interesting craft and antique shops, tea rooms, a butchers, bakers three grocers, a spa, several beauty therapists and hairdressers, two Museums, one Art Gallery, tennis courts in the village and four golf courses within 25 minutes, swimming pool in nearby Sudbury.'

Something for everyone, eh?

The bit that you can rent has one bedroom and one bathroom, and is an extremely reasonable £110 a night. Rent it here.

If you're not a die-hard Potter fan but you do want to stay somewhere unusual, check out our picks for the UK's most amazing Airbnbs.
