International cruise company, Royal Caribbean, are launching what they are calling ‘an extraordinary Instagram intern-ship’ (huh-huh) offering one lucky candidate a three-week stint aboard their luxury liners. And what must the candidate provide in return: three Instagram posts a day.
Yeh, really.
Recent research has found that social media is quickly overtaking the old traditional channels, such as holiday brochures and TV ads, in inspiring our next holiday destinations. And Royal Caribbean have taken note. They are on the lookout for one lucky individual to produce the ultimate in fomo-inducing holiday pics to upload on the brand’s insta-page.
The successful candidate will spend three weeks aboard three of the company’s liners; exploring the Far East, Caribbean and Mediterranean and while the job is essentially unpaid, Royal Caribbean promise to foot the bill for all travel, accommodation and daily living expenses. And they are chucking in £3,000 prize money just, because.
And if that wasn’t appealing enough, other perks of the job include complimentary access to all on-board facilities including all bars, restaurants, gyms, swimming pools, climbing walls, water slides and zip-wires.
But don’t submit your application just yet, there are requirements. Royal Caribbean asks that all applicants own their own smartphone and have an extensive knowledge of all 23 Instagram filters. Nope. Not even kidding.
Applications will be judged on visual appeal, originality, storytelling ability and inspirational qualities and the successful candidate will set sail in June 2017.
Are you a self-proclaimed Queen of Insta who’s honed her 'How’s your Monday looking?' holiday snap to perfection or, like us, are you gonna apply regardless because, why the f not? Then share your most extraordinary travel photo on Instagram, tagging @RoyalCaribbeanUK and #ExtraordinaryExplorer. Applications close at the end of January.
