The office party that’s not YOUR office party

Skream, Artwork, DIE @ The Old Queen’s Head

Fri Dec 12

There are a lot of big nights on this weekend, from Jamie xx and Jon Hopkins co-curating the Warehouse Project in Manchester, to Benji B doing a Deviation Xmas special. There’s the always brilliant Ben UFO and Spencer going All Night Long at La Cheetah Club in Glasgow. Girl Unit doing a live forest themed lightshow in Dundee, Romare at Gwdihw in Cardiff… BUT none of these DJs and producers decided to transform their night into the humble office party and for that reason alone, this night at the Old Queen’s Head is pick of the week. Get down for 'Skream from accounts, DIE from finance and Artwork from senior management' and dance in a way that could get you fired.

The xmas feast before the xmas feast…

*The Clubhouse @ Hackney Wick, London *

Fri Dec 12 - Sat Dec 13

TBH all I want to eat right now is ham and Chocolate Orange (not together) but if you’ve got finer tastes why not start the festive feast a couple of weeks early with this new market from street-food champions Kerb. In an old mirror factory, they’ll be serving up treats from the BBQ lab (“taking BBQ to the next level” mmmmm), Luardo’s Burritos, Fundi Pizza, Crabbieshack and Bleecker St. Burger.

**The arts space that’s opening rather than winding down for the year… **

, Liverpool** *

Sat Dec 13

Yes, Xmas is so close that you can basically smell the stuffing but that doesn’t mean there are no new openings. From the people behind the under threat Kazimier venue in Liverpool comes this new arts space and venue in an old Docklands factory. Sound interesting? Then visit on Saturday for what they’re calling a “celebratory event presenting the organisation’s future vision and demonstrating its first output”. Fancy. Optimo resident JD Twitch will be DJing amongst others. If you can’t make it, it’s definitely one to look out for in the new year.

The fashion event to make sure you’re not wearing the same thing as something else at the xmas party…

**LCF’s College Shop @ 33 Marshall St, London **

Dec 12, 13, 14

If you’re fed up of the shops being full of sequined dresses that look like they’ll unravel with one tug then try the London College of Fashion’s fourth ever College Shop, selling womenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories and jewellery from LCF students and alumni. For smaller budgets there’s a cute sounding ‘Fashion Photography Zine Corner’ featuring work from the school’s Fashion Photography course.

The battle of the livestreams that you don’t HAVE to leave the house for…

***Boiler Room w/ Skepta, Stormzy, The Square @ wherever you are ***

Dec 12 21.00 GMT

Just Jam @ The Barbican, London

Dec 13

Locked in by the WeatherBomb? Go out by staying in with this weekend Boiler Room. While the livestream ‘show’ might be going big, collaborating with the ICA to bring grime lord Skepta, plus newcomers Stormzy and Pengaleng crew The Square to the vicinity of Buckingham Palace, you can still watch it all from the comfort of your duvet. Bliss. If you can’t wait to get out (heating broke again) then another livestream institution Just Jam finally bring their vision to the Barbican on Saturday. Tim & Barry present Omar Souleyman, JME & Big Narstie ft Preditah, Mumdance & Novelist and more. They call it an 'evening of off-the-wall performance paired with psychedelic visuals manipulated and remixed in Just Jam’s chaotic signature style'.
