It’s going to be one of those weekends where the tabloid newspapers lose their shit because the UK is going to be hotter than some other places in the world. Take tha, Corfu. Up yours, Madrid. Etc etc. Temperatures are set to ‘soar’ to a ‘sizzling’ 24 degrees. We’re excited, but what about when the sun goes in and you realise that you’re only wearing a light jumper, the park is maybe a bit dark and it isn’t actually sticky July yet? Time to head inside to one of these great nights.

Highlife 4th Birthday w Auntie Flo @ The Art School, Glasgow

Saturday May 17th

Brian D’Souza aka Auntie Flo is busy this weekend with two parties. The Huntleys + Palmers resident (Goa by way of Glasgow) goes back to the Soup Kitchen in Manchester for what they’re calling a second helping, while on Saturday it’s up to Scotland. In celebration of Highlife’s fourth birthday ('bringing you fresh new music from corners of the world you’d least expect'), he’ll play alongside former city resident Esa Williams. Revisit 2012 album Future Rhythm Machine for a taste of what’s to come.

Rhythm Section w Frankie Valentine & Bradley Zero @ Canavan’s, London

Saturday May 17th

Speaking of rhythm, it’s Rhythm section at a new and improved Canavan’s this Saturday. Host Bradley Zero will be there as usual, alongside special guest Frankie Valentine. Last time he played the pool hall it was a big big night and to say that Bradley is excited about this time would be an understatement, promising an 'extended exploration of all things soulful'. As always, Rhythm Section is about DANCING and this is no exception. They say, 'Dress to sweat.'
