Looking for some privacy? This entire flat accommodates two people and overlooks the quiet courtyard. Clichy is only 30 minutes away from downtown Paris and is well connected with night buses, a Metro line and over ground trains from Saint Lazare, which is also great if you’re planning to visit Montmatre.

3. For the room with a view over Parisian rooftops – £30
This double room in a cute little apartment is right near the lovely Vincennes park (there's a lake and a castle to be seen there kids) and nearby a popular market that's on Tuesdays and Fridays. The hosts seem really cool and are happy to give travel advice, serve as guides and have meals with you.

4. For the history buffs – £30
This one's near the graves of Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison and is a private room in a lovely little apartment. The hosts seems super-friendly too. Plus, there's apparently a wicked market on Saturday mornings.

5. For lovers of drinking beer by a canal – £23
Super-central private room in a house shared with three girls. While they're not up for hosting couples it's super-duper cheap and it's near St Martin's Canal which is banging for sitting next to with a beer on a sunny afternoon.

6. For the book lovers – £30
Located one minute away from the Moulin Rouge and therefore near Montmartre, this room in a library does have a pull-out bed but my goodness it's a lovely room. Plus, there's plenty of bars nearby.

7. For a touch of Parisian elegance – £30
Such! A! Pretty! Flat! This one's got a courtyard and is again near the Bois Des Vincennes Park.

8. For the culture vultures- £27
It's a teeny tiny flat for just one person but it is the entire flat to yourself. Plus, it's walking distance to Opera Garnier, Louvre, Sacre Coueur and Gare Du Nord Station.

9. For the hikers- £23
This one's a bargain for the area. It's a a whole studio flat and is again over in the bohemian area near the graveyeard hosting the graves of Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison. Nice big windows for leaning out of and calling 'I'm in Paris!' Carrie Bradshaw style. Plus, it's on top of a hill so that's your cardio right there.

10. For the Eiffel Tower gazers – £30
Great little studio flat just near the Champs D'Elysee and you can see the Eiffel Tower from the window! It does have a six-floor walk to the top without a lift so maybe avoid if you've eaten too many croissants.
